I hear a new lockdown will be announced sometime today - hope not but I've been told it's almost certain....

Was watching local TV when it was announced. Everything closes from 5pm this evening, exceptions Supermarkets, chemists, petrol stations, banks, (Vets and Dentists as well I think but not sure) for 10 days. Needless to say panic buying this morning in Lemar, heaven only knows why. We laughed out load at the trolleys full of loo roles, being stuff into boot of cars.

And those same people who queued nose to tail at supermarket checkouts to ensure they have enough wine to see them through will spend the next 10 days sneering at some gardener or cleaner trying to pick up some work on the QT to feed their family.

Does anyone know how I can get permission to travel from Lapta to Lefkosa for an important medical appointment?

As I understand it, you can leave home and travel for medical appointments. So if you have proof of an appointment then there should be no problems.

Go to the police station in Lapta, they will help.

Many thanks to you all for .taking the time to answer my question. Police in Lapta were great. We got our permission
within minutes and sailed through to Lefkosia in no time.

This morning yapi markets open and busy (construction is allowed) as were car washes. So you need permission to go to the Doctors do you need it to buy paint or get your car washed?

Maybe the permission for the Doctors is if you leave your area?
I guess as with all these on the fly regulations you have to read between the lines a bit and apply common sense.

I travelled to Near East at Lefkosa this morning and was stopped by one of the many Police Officers at the by pass roundabout in Girne. Told them where I was going and why and there was no mention of permission just an OK have a nice day.

Hopefully most of the population here adhere to the night time curfew, if not they stick out like sore thumbs.

That’s the problem people not adhering to advice to stay home, they deserve to be fined and the fines are not enough.

If idiots are not respecting the rules then the fines are justified.... its a shame that they were not more strict in UK months ago, but then again you will always have ignorant idiots.

Unfortunately, what likelihood is there that those who have been fined will actually pay the fine?

In the UK? Extremely unlikely I would say.
