Hi there,
I don't come onto the forum much these days, but I thought I should relay this to you guys:
The police and the "Özel Harekat ekipler" (literally the "Special Operations Team" ... miltary I presume) are still searching for a prisoner who escaped from the prison in Lefkoşa yesterday evening. Apparently he is thought to be somewhere on the mountains between Girne and Lefkoşa. The helicopter, that some of you have probably heard this evening, is being used to search for him.
The prisoner's name is Alexander Satlaev. His sentence was for assault. And he has apparently also served time for similar offences back in his native Russia.
In any case, photos of the escaped prisoner are shown below.

Helicopter over Lapta and Karsiyaka for the last two hours.

Helicopters also very low over Ozankoy & Girne

The search for escaped prisoner Alexander Satlaev, continues.

The Russian national who was charged with sexual assault and stealing cash from a woman’s purse, escaped from the Central Prison on Monday night.

Satlaev was recorded on home security cameras in Ciklos and was then spotted in Lapta, following which searches were made of the regions.

Latest reports say that he had been last sighted near Jasmine Court Hotel in Kyrenia.

Police and Special Operations teams, which have been working hard to find the fugitive prisoner. Since the latest sighting they have concentrated their search efforts in this area as of this morning. Sniffer dogs and drones are also being used in the search.

I thought the country was in lockdown with permission to leave home required / road blocks etc???

Obviously a lot of false sightings of this guy.
Would think it would be difficult to move around too well at the moment unless he has help.

So would you recognise him now that he has shaved off his beard and moustache and trimmed his hair back to the wood, don't forget he will be wearing a mask as well as his sunglasses now the sun is out and bright? I would think that after being in the nick he would not have gotten much of a tan either but possibly by now he would not look remotely like his mug shots.

Just be aware of "Strangers" and treat them accordingly - no need to panic.

Well maybe the police could step up the random stops of anyone travelling which they should be doing anyway?
Personally I'm not seeing a drone is going to help much.
Let's be honest in two weeks everyone is going to forget about him so if they are going to catch him......

It's not yet been stated where, but it has just been announced that the guy has been caught.

It's now been stated that he was caught entering an empty house in Doğanköy.

At last - Doğanköy has something to be famous for - lol. On a sensible note it is good news and well done to all concerned in the search.
