So that'll be four weeks for Alsancak/Lapta

If you read what's in the kibris gazette it's made me feel pretty grim. Virus to peak at in march . Only 24 intensive care beds .12 in use . 90 odd single rooms for monitoring and they are having to put two people in each room. Imagine being really sick and having to share a room with no visitors or even worse be in intensive care. You have to feel sorry for the sick and the precarious nature presented by being a small populated area with limited hospital resources.

Well...It’s no surprise to experience a further extension considering experience(s) to date.

Continuous lockdowns are not the answer (reactive and not proactive approach). The government should reach out to the WHO and/or EU for “strategy” support rather than trying to be isolated and self contained. TRNC authorities needs guidance and direction and monitoring of their performance by an independent authority (Turkey or otherwise).
Sadly unless this is addressed and becomes mandated we will be on the hamster wheel inevitably.

So come on TRNC.... sort yourselves out.

The virus is governed more by seasonality than government/people's actions.
When the Spring and warmer weather comes the virus will go down until the autumn/winter.

I have followed the available information regarding Covid 19 for some long time now and despite all the available information, there is no definitive reason (apart from possibly humidity) why seasonal weather would have a greater effect than personal contact.

Flu deaths are mainly seasonal

Vitamin D: 13 minutes of UK sun three times a week is sufficient to maintain a healthy level, less in Cyprus! Moral: Stay out of the bar at midday!

Flu deaths are seasonal because people stay inside more and tend to congregate in larger groups. I.E. Bingo halls, Pubs/Bars/Indoor Restaurant's. Does this indicate that people who don’t spend so much time indoors in groups are less likely to catch flu - smokers for instance?

WHO would know? It’s a bit chicken and egg in some ways!

I think you’ll find temperature has a fair bit to with it

WHO tends to disagree, they are cleverer than me so I will go by them.

The Banks better be open otherwise I'm off to search for the nearest soup-kitchen!

After its handling of the the 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic and the 2014 EVD outbreak in West Africa the WHO is certainly not cleverer than your average bear - so it's a fair position to disregard much of what they say.

You can tell people not to jump off a cliff - but if they still do then WHO is at fault? You can tell drivers not to speed - again WHO is at fault if they do? It can't be the average bear can it - they know better because they spend their lives doing what they are advised not to do.

History is full of disasters because the average bear knows better but the blame always lies elsewhere.

TBH I don't think the WHO has covered themselves in much glory during covid 19 either.

I don't think that the WHO is either financed or manned big enough to cope with a pandemic the size of Covid at the same time as it continues all of its essential work in other areas, really all it can do is offer advice in most areas.

People tend to think that it is a huge organisation just sat waiting for disasters to happen or that it is half a dozen guys sat in an office somewhere playing cards till the call comes. It is worth having a look at just what the WHO do for a living I think before we condemn them.

Doesn't help when Trump decided to withdraw the US contribution either. (if memory serves)?

One of the first things that Joe Biden did after he was sworn in was to reverse Trumps decision to withdraw the US contribution to the WHO - one of his best moves so far IMO. He has also confirmed that the USA will stay part of NATO if I read it right.

Has Biden cured Covid in America already?
It's just we were getting hourly death tolls when Trump was in power and now the media is pretty silent so I can only assume Joe has sorted it?
