Mollie, where do you get Sky from? I have a package with Cosmos that gives me thousands of channels including all Sky and that works out to 70 Euros a year. Only thing is you have to keep your eye on the ball with this and as soon as the signal starts to buffer get onto them and they will fix it.

A guy who cleans pools has the package, he put it on my firestick.

If ever I revert back to my firestick instead of sky it seems to buffer, thankfully I dont revert back much, it was to get regional north west news on Modro however, thats gone belly up! Cant find our local news anywhere else!

Most things buffer on my 4k fitestick . Seems to have gone much worse in the last month or so. Dont know whether it's because of speed which on average is 7mb .subscribe for 10 but never achieve that. Or maybe everyone is say at home bored so the internet is slower. Or even perhaps the APK s now put a larger drain on them. All I know is that my firestick is pretty useless for live sports . No idea what it would be like if you paid for a package.
Anyone any idea what the likes of digiturk or similar charge. UK TV and sports .. especially live footy is a must.

I believe Turkcell home internet full package is 1620 TL a year, A friend of mine has it gets between 15/20 mg all the time. Had that company here a few weeks ago but there is a huge line of trees in the line of sight with the base station so no good for me.
I have also noticed a lot of buffering on the firestick in the last month?

Mollie, can you ask your pool guy, next time you see him, if he can put that Sky package onto a MAG 256 for me please? No rush and no panic because F1 is not due to start for many weeks yet - lol.

For those of you with a Firestick are you all aware that you need to clear the cache on the apps quite often? Not trying to teach anyone to suck eggs but not everyone knows. I look after a friend's Firestick and managed to clear over 1gb of memory just by clearing cache and all they do is watch UK TV occasionally. So not downloading lots of films or anything.

Firestick is very short of memory to start with but clogging it up with cache is one sure way of increasing buffering. Also on BBC you can go to settings and reduce the quality of the picture which improves the playback with to me no real noticeable quality loss. Sadly I have not found a way to do that with the other UK catchup channels.

In respect of love sport on Firestick it is possible but far from reliable. I like to watch the Moto GP and on practice days it is fine and runs without issue but come race day it is unwatchable due to constant buffering and freezing because the provider does not have sufficient servers to cope with demand. I have tried paid for services (IPTV) and without exception they have been exactly the same come race day. That is the only sport I watch but I imagine it will be the same trying to watch 22 men kicking a bag of wind about.

One of the things we need to remember is that if we are getting something for free that other people are paying (quite often) a lot of money we cannot expect a good service.

Chriswright03, we clear the cache every two weeks. If left for much more, the difference is really measurable. We have a Firestick and if we can't get a particular sport with a commentary in English, then we click on to Indian, USA, German or French. Its not often we can't find it somewhere.

I can find it on three or four different APK's but the result is always the same come race day. I am a fanatic with the Moto GP and watch every bit of practice and qualifying without a problem but as soon as the races start on the Sunday the buffering starts.

Have been watching some really good YouTube videos on how to improve the performance of the firestick. As mentioned clearing the cashe is one thing but other things like removing unused apps, stopping the apps that are running in the background, removing the installation files that you no longer need when the app is installed all seem to help. Something I learnt that you can expand the memory of the firestick using a flash drive but I think this can only be done on the 4k models. I don't think mine can be expanded. I have been looking at the android boxes on Allie Express they look good, not expensive but getting hold of one with no access to the po box in the south will be a problem. Dont know what you can buy locally!

Take a look at the website for satellite cyprus - they have some android boxes set up with apps specifically for UK expats.

More expensive than ebay as you'd expect, but they are local, so they can get one to you, and give technical support if required...

I've had one or two in the past and found them to work fine.

You'll find them on this forum as well - I'd post a link, but I'm using my 'phone, and it's not so simple!

Yes I watch quite a few Youtubers and learn how to do stuff with the Firestick. I have extended the memory with the USB memory stick and put all the apps on it that I can and use it for storage where I download films or TV shows when the internet is fast and unlimited off peak and then watch without buffering later.

There are apps to close all background apps and to generally tidy things up but much of it is quite a faff and whilst I am confident and happy to faff my friend and neighbour just can't be bothered mainly because it is too complicated. I have now managed to be in a position where the Firestick is running very well and have little if no problems (touching wood) but it has took a lot of patience and brain frying.

I'm paying £12 a month atm with all of sky as well as all European and most other channels, all with a TV guide as well as thousands of video on demand films, series on demand, netflix etc all included. The new Disney on demand has been great during the lockdown.

Reason why I find having all European packages and bein important is that it offers you many alternatives to watch sport if at anytime your main channel is down.

F1 football cricket multiple English options are always imperative.

You will require reliable Internet though for what ever you use.

IPTV is very good with a mag box. BUT, the internet speed is everything to do with quality of service. When Iptv is purchased it is very advisable to get SD service in addition to HD or even UHD if the internet speed is minimal. The availability of being able to switch from HD to SD we find in TRNC is essential to enjoy TV from anywhere.

Tried watching footy on my firestick last night . Tried all the usual a.p.ks. even with a 9b connection. Useless. Buffering every few seconds.
Usually use hes goal on.my laptop when this happens but again still.poor. oddly I tried again on laptop on hes goal which went to Z sports (not english).no buffering at all.
So I.guess is not all about the speed. Ps.. cleared firestick of cache etc before use.

Do not forget that the IPTV coverage of sky and other pay for view sites are actually illegal and the authorities are trying to close down these sights all the time if they are based in Europe or the UK so if going that way pay monthly just in case

For every Premier League match and F1 race I have been using SSport Plus at only 17.99TL per month (or 13.33TL per month on an annual contract).
No need for VPN even though it is internet TV.
I use Netflix and never had a problem with buffering.
I watch it on my smart TV but you can also view on mobile phone and computer.
It is beamed throughout Turkey and TRNC only.
Choice of commentary in Turkish or English (from Sky).
