Rental Tax

Does anyone know the current rate of rental tax please on a TL rental contract
and also if the tenant is not able to pay due to the pandemic closures , no work .....is an owner due to pay this anyway?

Rental Tax Rates in Northern Cyprus
8% – if rental payment (as per Tenancy Agreement) is Turkish Lira;
13% – if rental payment (as per Tenancy Agreement) is in any other currency GBP, USD, EUR, etc.

As you can read in the article above, it is a landlord responsibility to pay rental tax, not a tenant. Unfortunately, I did not see any news regarding rental income reduction.

In the event of non receipt of rent a letter should be taken to the tax office every month giving all the agreement details & reason for non payment. Suggest you take 2 copies, get them to sign & stamp one so you can keep a record.
