Vaccine Jab Appointment Update

Having applied online for vaccine jab over 4 weeks ago with no telephone call to be summoned, I went to the 'old' Girne Belediyesi and asked what was happening and was told online appointment information was NOT being passed on to the relevant vaccination centres! I was registered there and then and to await phone call. What a waste of time and space the Government online systems are!

My wife and I both registered for vaccination with the original on-line system - heard nothing, no contact at all - went to Girne Old Municipal building on the 4th of Feb on the off chance and got our first jab. Today we were both phoned by Girne and told our next jab would be at 11:00 on the 4th - tomorrow. It seems that the system, whatever it may be, is kind of working but like most "Systems" here they are not interconnected and talking to each other.
It is a "Young" system in terms of time and everyone is learning from it. I can only say that I feel the new "Digital Center" that is being built will bring every part of Government on-line together. Remember that knowledge is power and that people who feel they are in power are always reluctant to share the same. It is a learning curve right now and those who refuse to share will soon find they are left out in the cold!

I disagree, why bring in a 'new' system which hasn't been tested nor works which affects many residents? Total ineptness of fairy-tale schemes which the Government are unable to implement. Not only this online system has failed but read other threads about residency, mot, tax etc. which have dramatically NOT worked leaving many in limbo!

Which “New System” that any Government has introduced has ever worked perfectly straight away? Please don’t say Universal Credit as an example! What a wonderful and helpful system that is that leaves thousands of people waiting for funding for six weeks - of course they can all take loans that they can’t afford to pay back I suppose - just one small example for you to think about.
This is a small country with poor infrastructure trying to bring the 20th century advantages of the modern World to its people, give it a chance.

So, many people/residents as you put it.... have, or just maybe (don't want to start yet another argument here) have failed to keep up with the situation. So, people understand and have seen posts about registering on line, and have registered on line, as did we, but then, saw other information updating on the process, no problem with that, so I would say if people read about the online registration, surely they also read about changes..... common sense I would think..... and actually, I find the online process for MOT, Tax, is brilliant, haven't tried the residency one yet, so will reserve judgement. Personally, I find the new 'system' as you call it, works fantastically well, is not inept, very efficient. Give them credit for heaven's sake. Do you constantly carry a black cloud over your head, Brinsley...... today would have suited you down to the ground.... lol

"...a 'new' system which

Oh ???
Waddo says "...It seems that the system, whatever it may be, is kind of working..."
I would venture to suggest (from experience) that at least 50% (and possibly up to 95%) of new systems have never worked perfectly from the start - look at Microsoft Windows for example! Then consider the innumerable news stories around the world regarding system failures, glitches and outright crashes - machines are created by man, and that's one reason already for problems...

Residency-x 2 No problem
Car MOTx 2-No problem
Car tax x 3 --No problem
Inoculation- no problem.

The moral of the story always used to be - "Never trust anything that is version 1.0". There will always be an improvement to the first attempt, that is why Beta Testing should always happen first but most times it is left to the customer to Beta Test.
Appointment for 11:00 today, in and out in 17 minutes (including the enforced 15 minute sit down), no complaints, system working fine.

Just a quick question. How long does the vaccine last for or do we need a booster every year. Thank you.

Last I read about that was that the Big Pharma's are still arguing over how long the first lot will remain useful, IMO think the real answer will be for how long will the Big Pharma's carry on selling at current prices! Current general opinion of the medic's is that a booster may be needed in two years and possibly it will end up being like the flu jab, once a year in the end.
But who knows really?
