Lack of vaccine

I appreciate trnc hands are tied as they rely mostly on turkey for vaccine supply. But how can they consider opening up to tourists and thousands of students when in 7 weeks they have had only 80000 vaccines plus a few thousand from the Greeks and there isnt a robust health system to cope. I read that the Turkish parliament are coming over specifically to talk about covid im pretty sure the powers that be here will be begging for more supply. I understand they can facilitate 50000 doses a week here and to prevent a disaster they really need to start receiving close to that amount every week.

The press seem to be avoiding the issue .

I don't believe they had any from the 'Greeks' they were from the EU and certainly not their fair share.

Reyntj, I feel they started off the whole vaccine business so well and with great hopes and encouragement from locals and expats alike, but sadly matters are slowing down at just the wrong time. The take up was amazing and the speed that many have received 1st and 2nd doses exemplary. Like teatime I don't believe any doses emanated from the South, but from the EU. Sadly, as many people believed would happen and I'm one, money has taken priority over health. As to the press being largely silent, I'm sure you understand why.

If the locals followed procedure we could be back to normal soon. Do they think if they have vaccine they can carry on as normal. My neighbours have bbq every week 8 of them normally no distancing and no masks. Also loads of people in town - no masks. Sorry to go off thread.

The doses from the EU were delivered from the Greek side hence the confusion.

Interestingly I spotted a group of expats this morning, 8 of them to go off on a walk, clearly not from the same household. I am not sure that proportionally the expats are much better.
