But things will speed up now because of UK numbers. There's an international travel report due on 12th April and I think they'll relax considerably.

Sinovac has not yet been approved by the EMA and may not be !!!

All well and good and a welcome piece of news. However; there is still the issue of how you prove you have had the vaccine and a recognised EU vaccine as well. What verified proof will the ROC want before you can enter? Currently there is no agreed method of confirming that you have had the vaccine. Plus the U.K. has travel restrictions in place until 17th May as far as holiday travel is concerned. There is a “task force” looking at travel with more details coming out in April.

Making entry easier and no quarantine will kickstart the tourist return to the ROC which is of course a driving influence for these changes.

I was given a small card after having had my first jab. No doubt I will get a second card after the second jab. Not convinced that this will be accepted as the vaccine “passport” to allow travel. To easy to copy? Easily transferred? Could be lost? Some have mentioned possibly this could be managed by an app on your mobile. Here in the U.K. the NHS App has been mentioned, however not everyone has a mobie. I don’t believe there is any agreement on how this will implemented and managed. Obviously whatever system is used it has to be accepted and used by all countries or else chaos reigns!

Whether the TRNC follow this same route for those arriving via Ercan we shall see. Then of course there is still the un verified issue about crossing to and from the ROC into and out of the TRNC and what vaccination, PCR and quarantine checks will be required.

Some may say it’s to early to ease restrictions.

Simon Calder the Travel writer has just been on LBC news to talk about going to Cyprus and he has written also same in The Independent.

Meanwhile leaving the UK is about to get even trickier ...
From Monday morning passengers leaving the country by air, sea or rail will have to complete a form before being allowed to depart.

The Declaration to Travel will be checked by the airline, ferry line or train operator to ensure that the traveller is legally allowed to leave the UK under the exemptions for personal or business reasons. It’s not clear where to find the form, or the information necessary.

The Home Office says only that more information will be available “in due course,” presumably over the weekend.

Officially the U.K. will still be in lockdown until 21/6 nothing is set in stone yet about travel. We’ve got the children starting school on Monday and we don’t know the impact of that yet.

And there's RoC saying they will accept any Brit carrying a signed letter from their GP stating their patient is safe and suitable to travel. GP's are saying there is no way they have the time or the medical/legal inclination to do such a thing. Seems the RoC will do anything to encourage tourists, even if its not safe.

The vaccination program in the UK continues to romp ahead, Certainly the ROC wants and needs the foreign revenue so welcoming vaccinated "protected" tourists makes sense.
I'm guessing that the TRNC will see this as an opportunity to follow suit and I hope that will come soon.
The lack of clarity on green line border crossing presents uncertainty but it looks like Cyprus has a road map for opening up.

You cannot and will not be allowed to travel from the uk until May 17th. One of the stepping stones out of this pandemic .

Not strictly true. There are flights, ferries and trains leaving the UK but you have to have specified reasons to travel.

From 17th May the hope is that holidays can start.

Hopefully the north will follow with regard tourism and entry. I will be having my first vaccination this week (March) and the second in May so cant see travel arrangements made till late May at the earliest. All uk residents should have details on their nhs medical record which they can access via the nhs app. This should show date(s) of vaccination as it has recorded when I had coronavirus (Oct 2020).

I'm in the same boat as you although I think the 2nd jab may be a little later.

I'd be happy to do a negative test plus home isolation as I did last August but no way would I do quarantine.

The Mrs got her jab appointment today for Mid March.

Mixed feelings as I'm too young at the moment

Hopefully my group called in the next 2 weeks

So with vaccine passports being the chosen way forward I'm guessing there will be no family travel abroad this year. Under fifties to children (without underlying conditions) won't be getting any jabs at all till mid June the 10/12 weeks for second jab would take to the start of September....end of school holidays.

I think those without a vaccine will still be able to go down the negative test route and with countries increasingly accepting lateral flow tests (£30 & 20 mins for result) it looks doable.

Rules on entry have just been relaxed. You do not have to show Residency - a kocan or rental agreement will suffice as of today.

So at a guess those with 2 vaccine shots will be able to enter with no restrictions.

Others will have to show negative test and then isolate followed by another test.

As someone said earlier - tourists without 2 jabs will not be flocking to the TRNC anytime soon.

As we have both had first vaccination, with second booked, have a Kocan and would be more than happy with home isolation we are feeling more positive about returning later this year.

There is of course the decision to be made as to which airport to use to fly to Cyprus. Given the recent announcement on how crossing the border will operate and also the ROC attitude towards anyone having a Kocan about their person, I suspect to avoid hassle it’s Ercan for us.

She didn't need one but they were just encouraging her to wear more clothes.

That was always my favourite part of visiting America. It's not just that it's my only opportunity to be skinny its the fact that you see the salad dodgers in spandex and the like.
