The guy who has the page 'Tales of Cyprus' was given this photo and was given no information. Does anybody recognise the location, people???
My son says definitely British soldiers, my neighbour says Cyprus building!!!
As for the wall paintings - curious!!!!
I don't know if you can see it them well enough, as of course I had to reduce the size for the forum

One looks like someone carrying a shield on his left arm and other, two people kissing (could be my wild imaginings though) !

They look to me like British officers, possibly Brigade of Guards. My reasoning for this is that the guy second from the right is wearing metal rank badges, all other Regiments usually wore cloth badges of rank on their epaulettes in Shirt Sleeve Order. Just a thought.

That should read second from the left.

The brigade of guards is a good shout both the pips and socks look like guards division. And they way they are lounging about as if they were in Annabelsor the Valbonne.

Officers for sure, who else would have cups and saucers and a china tea pot. I love the woman floating down with open parachute and the guy with bow and arrow, presumably about to shoot her down. Any significance?

This is what my HAC soldier son says : When: man furthest left is wearing a battle dress tunic - the first pattern of which was 1937, so this is the very earliest possible date. BD continued to be worn until round about 1960. My guess for the picture would be sometime in the 40s.
Where: Somewhere hot! Wall pictures poss inspired by classic legends so somewhere with Greek influences? Greece, Crete, Cyprus are obvious locations for the British Army in the 1937-60 period but anywhere Mediterranean or Middle East are possibilities.
What: The suggestions of your other two correspondents seem entirely valid (although I know nothing about socks - Brigade of Guards or otherwise!). Second left is definitely an officer, so the others prob are too, given the relaxed, almost louche attitude of the group. Will ask friend to also take a look.
I even looked up the history of modern fly swatters (man on far right), but as they are Edwardian inventions and I can't tell if it is wire mesh or all plastic (plastic one-piece examples from 1940s onwards), that doesn't help narrow things as much as the BD tunic. Likewise the crockery, spectacles and haircuts could be anything from 30s to 50s.

Surprised a gel doesn't know of Annabelle or La Valbonne but live the "louche" or lounge lizard descriptions . I would have said 50's as the guards socks were still in when I joined in Malaya.
