Buying and driving a car here

When buying a car here for the first time, from a dealer, what's the usual payment method? I see that prices are in UK sterling. Is payment made by transfer from UK bank account or is a TRNC bank account required? Or something else?
Linked to this, first time car insurance here - does evidence of No Claims in the UK help reduce the cost, or do we start from scratch?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Bought a new car last week with no part exchange. Got a really nice reduction on the price by producing a wad of 50 pound notes on the table prior to negotiation and paid the remainder with a UK debit card. They took copy of passport and did all the rest of the Government demands. You can use BACS or any method you choose but a bit of cash works wonders. You arrange your own insurance this end and as steveodp said earlier nothing is transferable from UK. Actually, why would they. Wouldn't work in reverse.

Deniz1, our car was bought from Tiga as well. They are the only people I would even think of purchasing any vehicle from. As well as coping with the Government end of purchasing a new car (at least new to us) they honour the warranty without a quibble, give you a good replacement car if and when necessary. The cars are beautifully valeted and the technical session before taking over the car is much appreciated. In our case we went with our usual Insurance company but would probably have saved money if we had changed to Tiga company.
