We will be hiring a car in May for 5 weeks and staying in Lapta. Can anyone recommend a reliable company who we can rent from who will do transfers from Larnaca?

We always use Pacific, always reliable and on time when delivering the cars. They also do transfers, we called in their office last time we were out and asked about the price of transfers and they said £ 40 each way, of course it may have changed but I'm sure it will be on their website

Bellapais rent a car may not be the cheapest, but the most professional, it has been established for 10 years, that says alot. Try an email infor@bellapaisrentacar.com, they

We have always used A one.

If you hire a car from them the transfer from Larnaca is half the normal price. Some people do say that the transfer with A one is not a private transfer, i.e. you may have to wait for everyone to get thro customs @ Larnaca before they set off in minibus. We personally have never had any issues and everytime its just been us transfering - but hey if you have to wait a few more minutes we dont find that a problem. We always book the smallest car but A one have offered us upgrades free of charge...basically select any car you want from those parked up!

We do check others for prices each time but so far A one have always been competitive and no issues.

Wow..including Cyprus44 etc over the last few years, this must be one of the most common queries on N Cyprus forums...I have always found BirdRentaCar to be fine. The cars are not brand new and sometimes a bit tatty but...rates are very good! Pays yer money an takes your choice I suppose!

We always use http://www.birdrentacar.com and can highly recommend them.They have very compatible rates, they can also pick you up from Larnaca. We've found them very reliable. we have used them for the past 9 years, they have never been late once. They are very friendly, everything they do for you is a pleasure not a chore.

Used Bird last year for a transfer to Ercan, when the driver was not on the mobile, he was sending text messages whilst driving.Stick to Ibos now.

Bird every time. Have used them for years. Baspinar - never again. I suppose they are all probably much the same but Bird have always been reliable and decent!!

Have gone back to Green Garage which offer good rates and are useful if you are in the Lapta/Alsancak area. Aone have let us down, I'm afraid, and I refuse to use them anymore.

Ibos is a great family run set up .. have never let me down.

Hardly restricted to Bird? Normal behaviour in TRNC.

I always used and recommended AONE, but they got greedy. Charged my brother full fare when he shared a taxi with 2 other couples, I didnt know about this until I went to confirm his return journey and saw in the book his name with another 2 couples and beside his name was 50. My brother confirmed that he was charged 50 and there were 2 other drop offs on his way here. I now use Bellapais who will share the cost if there is another fare, they also call to see if we would mind sharing, AONE never contacted us to see if we minded sharing, and like I said earlier charged the standard fare.

We recommend and use Aone because of the £50 transfer fee and good car hire rates. We were aware that there could well be other people on the same pick up as us traveling in the minibus to Girne area. However; for each of our 3 trips last year we were the only one's being picked up - perphaps just lucky I suppose. We have no problem if there are others being picked up/dropped off on the same run - we always end up at the Aone offices to pick up our hire car anyway before driving to our place. The £50 seems a fair price to us and they are running a business so I suppose it all balances out in the end i.e. some trips they only get £50 and others they get more.

Reasons why we continue to use them are the cheaper transfer costs, good car hire rates (Often pay for a small car and get upgraded or have a choice of vehicle when picking up) and also on one trip there was a problem with the minibus which the driver noted on his arrival at Larnaca to pick up - no problem - he arranged for taxi to take us back whilst minibus was fixed.

When we come across we tend to go with the flow and in no rush so pick up and transfer is all part of the experience.

There has been an assortment of car hire companies recommended which is good, shows that there is healthy competition and a good number of satisfied punters. No car hire firm can rest on its laurels as we; like many, always compare prices but so far have stayed with Aone.
