Can you change the preset Apps on a TV

I have been looking at the current offers on Samsung TV's. However all of the ones ive seen are local to Turkey. When I last bought my tv here 4 or 5 years ago it had the UK Apps installed. I watch most of my TV via these Apps on IPlayer, ITV, Amazon Prine, Netflix etc. I prefer not to use my firestick or any other device,
Is it possible to change the Apps on a new TV?

Yes you can usually add new apps. We have a Samsung and have done this for all of the UK TV channels as well as the likes of Youtube and a couple of others. If you set your TV language to English you should be able to view how to do it from within the settings.

There may be some apps you can delete judyvin such as Samsung's own apps and maybe some third party ones. Out of those you can't, you may be able to disable them and this will help prevent automatic updates from using up more memory. This was one consideration when I switched to a Sony Bravia with Android TV Operating System last year. Apart from there being a lot less of the "bloatware" to begin with, it has all the platforms you mentioned already installed. You can also install apps from Google Play and whilst then, not all Google Play apps are available on Android TV O/S, there's still a lot more available compared to the Samsung app store. Android O/S TV's are becoming more available but one of the reasons I opted for a Sony is that they also have a Type F (satellite) input.

I would check very carefully. Some such as the LG I bought seem to have regional approval. This means the one I have is unable to have Iplayer, ITV hub etc on it. I ended up going back to using the firestick on it which works fine but adds a layer and an extra remote.
This may help:-

You should be able to add the likes of BBC and ITV but not watch them without a DNS or VPN.

Does that mean that purchasing a Smart TV here is a bit of a waste of money if you need a VPN. I was thinking about changing, but it seems that if you already have a Firestick you are OK, because if I want iPlayer and ITV Hub I still need a VPN.

If you buy a new smart TV in the North, the retailer or their engineer will be able to change the settings on the TV to UK settings to access UK apps
Yes you will need a VPN
Additonal kit which might be useful and of interest - You can buy apple TV box in the North for about £200 including free 12 months apple TV subscription

Benjamin button.
By what you say it would appear you don’t have a smart tv, that would suggest your current tv is old/very old ( 5 years or more)
Changing your tv to a more modern version will be eye opening, The picture quality now is far superior to what it was especially if you get a decent tv with upscaling,
I would buy the best you can afford - there is a reason why TVs vary so much in price for the same size screen (55 inch upwards).
Think of it as trying to read without spectacles , then putting your spectacles on. Or would you really have a computer that is more than 5 years old ? Which in effect is what a modern tv is.

I take on board your comments Mr Chinnery and accept you are probably correct. There is no way on earth we would purchase a 55ins or above. I have a living room and dining room not a cinema! Strange you should mention old computer. The Lenova laptop I have is, in your eyes ancient, but very powerful and I know two guys who spend their lives working on pc's, continually asking me to let them have it if and when I get rid of it. It is heavy, and powerful and was built buy a computer programmer many years ago.
