Just an idea
Hi. Just wondering if anyone has done what I am considering doing.
I am returning to the U.K. and was wondering what the implications would be if I had Resident Caretakers to live in and look after my property. They would be paying all the bills and keeping everything maintained. But not paying rental.
Advice welcome they are very trusted friends.
Thank you in advance

Only you can make this decision. Years ago we did something and when I put the case to my father the advice back, good friends, you know them etc. OK over 10 years , 2 to 4 weeks visiting a year, 40 weeks max you know them please be realistic.

If they won't be paying rental at any time, won't they be classified as Squatters and they are notoriously difficult to remove. Just a thought.

Even trustworthy friends can become untrustworthy.
Better to put your money to an agency that looks after properties whilst your away. Some say that route is costly but what price is it if you cannot get people out of your property and potentially can do damage also.

Choose your spouse, friend, relative, in difficult days. On a good day, no one shows their purity.

Re: Just an idea
How would they get residency if they neither own a property nor officially rent one?

Chriswright03, we don't know if they haven't already have residency. I do know a couple who have someone "house sit" for 4 or 5 months at a time, whilst the owners are away,

You can give them a contract stating zero rental and get a notary to stamp it they can use this for residency if they need to.

I realise that but thought a worthwhile point to raise that 'may' not have been considered.benjaminbutton wrote: ↑Sat 26 Jun 2021 7:21 pmChriswright03, we don't know if they haven't already have residency.
