Sinovac is it true that uk will not accept the Chinese inoculations, I am due a second jab but it seems if I can't go to the uk as a national there is no point in having the second jab

Well I think so have you a reason to ask

They won't accept any vaccines not administered by the NHS. So if you have not had one of them you will have to go there under the current rules which from an Amber country which Cyprus is then self isolation at home. If you fly out from the North because Turkey is a red country then quarantine at a Hotel at great expense to you.

Many people will maybe think the same as you about having a second jab but then may people are being admitted to Hospital because they are not vaccinated and some of them don't come out. The evidence is there to say that with the vaccine you are less likely to be seriously affected by the virus should you catch it. You may accept that evidence, you may not and on that basis the choice is yours entirely. I can see no point whatsover in having half of something that may help you.

Is it not that the vaccine is offering you protection..... it is not a passport for travel...... it is protection..... just my opinion of course.

Ive had both of mine if I need a booster I will have it its to help others as well as myself. You were happy to have the first one why not the second.

This is interesting in a strange way - I have no intention of going anywhere and in particular the UK - as it does not concern me. However, I have trawled through the many pages of Gov.UK and can't find any reference to what actual vaccines they accept. So, does this mean that if you are a UK Citizen and live abroad, it matters not where you live because you can only get an NHS administered vaccine in the UK, then you are going to face quarantine on your arrival in England? Further, does it also mean that anyone from any other country in the World has to face quarantine as well?

Also if you have no address in the UK - like Pedro from Mexico - who just went on holiday and booked 14 days in the Ritz Carlton (paid up front) you would have to stay in a nominated quarantine hotel at your own expense as well?

It seems like the UK Govt have found a way of getting blood out of a stone after all - unless of course you are the PM then you can just ignore the rules and say "I was nowhere near anyone else so I don't have to self isolate" think I'll just nip up to Scotland and do a bit of glad handing......

a 2nd jab is a must, as one jab does not give protection (against the Delta variant and maybe others...).

if double Sinovaxxed, a booster shot with Biontech is sort of mandatory.

Israel is going for a third boost. U.K. said it will do same September/October….

Types of COVID-19 vaccine
The COVID-19 vaccines currently approved for use in the UK are:

Moderna vaccine
Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine
Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine
Janssen vaccine (available later this year)

According to the news, TRNC have already started their third or "Booster" jabs here, with health services etc first of course! We now wait to either get called for a third - due to age - or told when to apply. Both of us happy to take a 3rd, 4th, 5th and a flu jab as well! According to the pharmacies I have asked the flu jab due out in mid Sept and having missed it last year I will get it this year for sure.

Starting to see more and more news reports from the "experts" that a 3rd Covid jab is not worth it and that spare capacity from countries should be given to countries who are lagging behind in the first jab's. Just wonder how many of the "experts" have already had their 3rd jab?

Anyway, statistics (If you are willing to believe them) are pointing to the facts that jabbed people are less likely to die from Covid and have much reduced symptoms than those that have not been jabbed at all, so guess it is up to the individual in the end. Time by time there will be less people without a jab, as they fade away then the chances of catching/carrying/passing on the virus will diminish as well.

Talk of experts. The other day I read on my news feed that one prominent UK expert was saying that the Pandemic was behind us now and will become an epidemic. Today I see a different UK expert has said that Pandemic will be with us for years to come as they are expecting new strains to develop which may well beat any vaccine.

If we are offered a booster here we will also gladly have it Waddo. I would prefer to take my chances with a vaccine than without. Sadly any travel to the UK looks very remote at the moment because we are not NHS vaccinated, can not fly out of Ercan without going into very expensive hotel quarantine in the UK and to go from the South seems like it may well be impossible come September as we do not have a valid entry stamp in the ROC.

Happy to stay here and take my chances even with the numbers of new cases being high daily.

Chriswright03, when you start to think hard about our situation here we have become somewhat isolated haven't we? It will be four years at the end of August since we have been back to UK to visit family. A large "get together" was planned last year and duly cancelled. Because at our age we really don't feel we can put ourselves through all the hoops we are expected to jump through to visit via the South. Like you, we will take our booster jab if and when offered one plus of course a flu jab. It looks as if the cost of flying out of Ercan will become prohibitive because of lack of competition and whilst Turkey remains Red it won't be an option for us in any case. As you get older, the years pass so quickly. BTW, we were given the Pfizer vacs when we had ours in January.

Yes we are isolated and with the Greeks determined to make it more so we will have little option but to live with it. I refuse to jump through hoops so will wait until the option for us to fly back to the UK without that nonsense. It may be a while but I have no control over that and long ago worked out worrying about stuff you had no control over was pointless.

I know this is wandering off topic but hey. Last night the power was off for a while when we were in bed. So no fan and no air con. So I tried to get to sleep while I was hot and damp knowing full well that when the electric came back on because the fan was on it would put the light on as well to wake me up which of course it did who knows how long later. So another night's sleep interrupted. Tiny, tiny problems in comparison to many others around the World and we really have little serious to worry about for which I am delighted.

Don't worry guys, the World will not have RED zones forever, politicians seeking re-election and countries economies will become the catalyst that drops countries out of RED into AMBER (or is it Orange or another color depending which country you live in), already places are finding ways around it - UK now have a traffic light system - and they always will.

You can see what is happening around the "Major" players countries already with which vaccines they will and will not approve for use in their own countries - big Pharma needs the bucks and depending on how much of which countries bought then they will always want that one to be the one to have. Sooner or later there will be a 'World Safe Pass", probably available from The Who (if they had any sense they would have produced one by now) and the bickering between nations will have to stop. Just hang in there, time passes so fast at the end of days but enjoy them all - what a wonderful place to end up is my prime thought for the day! Take care out there.

I am one of those that has covid (I am in the UK) My boss at work has had it. I have been double vaccinated and the only symptoms I have had is feeling like I have a bad cold. My boss on the other hand has had a bad time. She wouldn't have the vaccine. She is now in her 4th week and hasn't the energy to do anything. Tomorrow is freedom day for me. Go for your second Vaccine.

I could Deniz but the ceiling light includes the fan and when the power comes back on it switches the light on. I still should have switched it off but then I was half asleep and then of course fully awake when it came back on. Maybe part of Kibtek saving electricity as in another thread.
