A massive amount of helicopter activity tonight. Saw two helicopters flying above the Acapulco Hotel with one hovering just out to sea. That one had a searchlight on the water and a winchman been lowered into the water being there for quite a long time. When he eventually flew off he returned to the same area short while later hovering again. A night time exercise maybe but the time it hovered above the water was surprisingly long.

One flew very low over karsiyaka, similar time.

This happens regularly about this time every year, although they are seen just to the left of the merit hotels in Alsancak where there is a prominent rock out to sea. The same exercise as Thornaby described in his post.
