Turkish Airlines cancelled flights to Ercan

Anyone have any idea why TA seem to be cancelling quite a few flights to Ercan?

We’ve been monitoring flights in October/November and quite a few legs to Ercan completely cancelled. Some days it’s now impossible to fly from the UK to Ercan without a nightly stay over on Istanbul.

Received notification that a flight I had booked on 9th December from Dublin to Ercan via Istanbul had the IST to ECN leg cancelled. Looking at their schedules it seems as though they’ve cut back flights from the end of October. So you’re right - an overnight in Istanbul now (but it won’t let me rebook via the app so have to go to the ticket office/phone).

Yes it is because the flights aren't busy enough to make it viable for them to fly. Not enough passengers on the flights means they cancel some of them.

Stelios Haji-Loannou aka EasyJet, having successfully isolated North Cyprus is now making a hostile bid for THY in order to reinstate Constantinople, to be rebranded as 'Easy-City'!!!!

So far we’ve had 4 flights cancelled through November Istanbul-Ercan.

Not sure if this helps, but looks like they are changing flights as time goes on.

this was happening as way back as May, it is not new and means a long layover in Istanbul

As Roman states flights as far back as May were cancelled and flights into Ercan seemed to be available to UK connections only in the morning flight. We had roughly eight hours in Istanbul as our flight arrived in Istanbul about 23.00 and flight out was about 08.00.
Yet another obstacle to living in the TRNC .
Makes the old airline look CTA look desirable.

I'd even be prepared to risk flying Oner Air - back in 2004. Used to bounce three or four times before the plane finally stopped. !
