Puzzled !!

I read today that the Health Ministry has extended the midnight to 5 am curfew until the 1st of September. Now I know as an almost octogenerian 'I know nussing!! but can anyone tell me what this has to do with Covid 19 ?? Been out today and all the shops are busy and so I have to assume that I have missed something...Covid infections obviously only come out at night after midnight a bit like Dracula?? If this is not the case then this rule has nothing at all to do with the pandemic and is a rule carried out ' because they can ' !!

I think the logic is to stop the young congregating on mass at nightclubs and late lounge bars to while away the hot, humid evenings/nights.
However, it doesn't seem to stop the mass of overseas students wandering down my street in the early hours, yahooing on their merry way home without a care in the world oblivious to anything else but their needs! The air does seem somewhat sweetly perfumed as I watch them pass by, puffing on whatever. Never a plod in sight!

I'm bored of the whole curfew thing, the roads are busier with people trying to get home. We use the Esentepe road fairly often and have followed many a drunk driver who uses the white line as a guide. I hope we all get a New Year this year.

I think it's to keep the young from partying, not us over the age of going out every night until the early hours, who could not give a damn. The problem is that is the young who will not give heed. They think they are immune, and they cannot pass anything on, until they do, and are personally affected when they infect family. Must be awful for those who are think, they were fine to pass it on.

There are plenty of older folks out after curfew I'm told, infact I know of a few who rolled home around 2am the other week. Regardless of the curfew folks will always gather, the 2 Meyhanes on Çatalköy road are always heaving when we go past at about 11.50 at the weekends.

If 200 people are planning to go to a place and you reduce its opening hours then surely more of them will congregate at one time than if opening hours are extended? If stopping people massing together is the idea then either open it for the normal amount of time or don’t open it at all?
I do think that the majority of these rules are genuine attempts to stop the spread but others seem to be an attempt to gain control. Putting people in fear of their lives is a fantastic way of gaining compliance.
Any form of martial law is always advertised as a safety measure

Ah finally someone with the same thinking as myself! Very similar to when the supermarkets were crowded on a Saturday as they were shut on a Sunday.

100%.
It’s like restaurants.
Some people like to eat at 7 some like to eat at 9.
If you close the restaurants at half eight now everyone, if they fancy a dinner out, is eating at 7.

For sure I don’t think anyone seriously thinks any action that has or hasn’t been taken through this has been with the intention of doing harm it’s just rushed decisions aren’t always the wisest decisions.

Just come back from a restaurant in Lapta and the owner said they tried to get everyone out by midnight, but many of the venues on the Lapta Strips are open well after midnight and they are not sort of place the Movers and Shakers visit.
