I have been asked to send certified copies of original documents, which are supposed to be certified by a registered solicitor.
Is there such a thing here as a list of registered solicitors, or perhaps a list of registered notaries, as have heard other people having the latter do this? If so, where do I find such lists?

I had copies of original documents certified by our village Muhtar. They were accepted in the UK.

We had to get our respective divorce documents apostolate in the uk and also Germany it's taken 3 months so far and nothing back as they have covid staffing problems. £39 a document

Thank you S&P and Terry. Documents are needed in Singapore. I will email them again and see what they say. They did think that I still lived in UK, despite being told over 11 years ago that I reside in TRNC.
Anyone with anything further to add would be much appreciated.

We’ve used a Notaire (which is, after all, a Notary Public and that’s what they were designed for, I think) for such purposes. They will complete the notification in English or Turkish. It worked for us.

Mowgli the courts would not accept them sadly also the BHC used to do it but not anymore

AM. Would it be possible for you to cross over to the Dark Side and have the documents notarised there, if necessary after your email reply?

Thank you Mowgli for that suggestion which I hadn't thought of. I really do not want to go south side if I can possibly avoid it.
I will just wait to see what they say by email, which could take some time, going by length of time it took them to reply to my last.

Don't bother with the high commission they can't help just told me all uk docs must be apostojated by the firm in the uk.

Eventually been informed that I can have a public notary certify the documents. Can anyone recommend one please and give me a location?
I'm in Tatlisu, but realise I will have to venture to Girne or Famagusta, prefer to avoid Lefkosa.
