Serious Police checks at last

Not for the first time this week the local Traffic Police have been out and about. Copied from WTF Facebook Group.
Traffic Control
During traffic inspections carried out by police teams across the country last night, 2,590 vehicles were checked and further action was taken against 624 drivers who were found to have committed a crime.
A total of 61 drivers were caught driving whilst under the influence of alcohol, 5 drivers were arrested for various crimes and 70 vehicles were banned from traffic.
During one particular inspection, one gram of cannabis was found ina vehicle and the driver and passenger were both arrested.
During security inspections carried out by Girne and Güzelyurt Police Department, a total of 40 people who were forbidden to enter or stay in casinos in Kyrenia were identified and legal action was taken against them.
Inspections were also carried out in Güzelyurt. Bet offices, places where alcoholic beverages are sold, night clubs and coffee houses operating in the region were checked, but no issues were found.

Sounds good so far. Allied to that, does anyone know roughly what the speeding fine is, ie speed cameras flashed! ?? And how they collect it now - used to be when you crossed the border.

The best money raiser for the Police would be to stand on the side of the road, pull in all drivers using a phone. Confiscate it on the spot and tell them it can be collected from the police station for 1000tl Fine/payment
They would clear the countries debt in a week.

I don't know what the speeding fine is nowadays, but am sure it is related to the minimum wage, and is on a scale, going up the more you are over the speed limit. The fine is delivered to your home address by an outside contractor, but can take some considerable time to come through.

Speeding fine currently just under 700tl, just paid it!

If you go to the police station in Girne, you can get them to check if you have a speeding fine.

We had a 440 tl speeding fine delivered by motorbike on Saturday it had been incurred end of June so looks like they are catching up with the backlog!
