Just because the clocks change doesn't mean you have to follow the hour, just keep to the daylight you would otherwise...

I cant make my mind up what to do. There is absolutely no way that i am getting up at 4am to change the clocks. So i either do them before i go to bed, which means i be an hour late getting to bed. Or do them first thing in the morning, which means i will have overslept!!!!!!!

That all depends whether you are living in my head or your head. If i put the cocks back before i go to bed. I normally go to bed at midnight, so when i put the clocks back it will only be 11pm, so i will have to stay up another hour until it gets to my bedtime, hence i have lost an hours sleep. If i do the clocks in the morning , i normally get up at 6am so i get up as normal but it is now only 5am so i have overslept by an hour!!!!!!! it's all very confusing.

Of course it’s not now put lights on 6 tomorrow lights go on at 5 . How’s that the same. Only way it helps is if you get up at 5 am it’s lighter. Hands up how many get up then

I do. Don't know why, simply a habit. Sometimes earlier 4am. Will be nice again not having to wait long for it to get light outside.

:+1:)
Another one here. Then an hour’s walk around Ozanköy while:
(a) it’s cool
(b) there’s very little/no traffic
(c) the stars/moonlight is fantastic
(d) the occasional meteor is spotted
(e) if really lucky can talk to the owls

If you lived here quite a few years back President E. across the water announced that Turkey was not going back (or forward whichever it was at the time) and we followed. It lasted a few weeks I believe but the banks, Government departments and people driving south for work and schools were up in arms so both T and TRNC countries reverted, as the South had followed Europe of course.

Think Turkey has stopped changing clocks, so they are an hour ahead of us here in TRNC now.

I think the reason for changing the clocks has is now pointless. If I get this right the reason was that so children going to school in the morning could walk in daylight. How many kids walk to school? One of the age old traditions that needs to be reviewed and made to reflect current real life.

I think it also had something to do with farm workers being able to start work in daylight

As quoted here, daylight saving time was originally suggested in 1784 as a method of conserving candles...

Having read all of the Wicki article I've finally come down on the side of NOT adjusting clocks. That's a seismic change for me.!!
