Looking for somewhere that serves good sunday lunch, around Karakum Catalkoy area, or Girne
Nice roast potatoes and yorkshires, meat that's preferable cut from a joint, not the paper thin stuff you used to get from Birds Eye, (>:)(
Thank you in advance.

Tim’s cafe are now doing Sunday lunch and whilst I have not yet tried one (wife still insists upon cooking it) I have had some very good reports. Plenty of parking area and a friendly atmosphere.

Lords Palace, fabulous, buffet type thing, but you can have your choice of anything, so much, fabulous beef, yorkies, cut and served as you want by the chef.... or chicken or lamb,145 tl for as much as you like, including drinks..... excellent value. fresh veg, amazing value. Not just traditional sunday lunch but so much other stuff on offer, but, best to book, as it really does get absolutely packed. 12.30 to 2.30 I think, but they won't kick you out, nor stop filling your glass up..... lol

Karakum? There's only one worth mentioning Al Shaheen London chef fabulous yorkies and spuds loads of veg and gravy to die for. But don't eat before you go as there is so much meat you'll not be able to finish it.

Definitely The Old Mill in Ozankoy. Best Sunday roast I have had in ages (Apart from my own of course!;-))
Fresh veg, lovely yorkies and gorgeous meat from joints. Lovely home made puds too! Booking essential.

The Old Mill, there's a reason you have to book in advance!

Sorry you had a bad experience, we always just ask for the beef to be sliced from the joint, not put in the pan, cos that can toughen it. The beef cut from the joint has always been perfect, pink, just like beef should be, not overcooked. Never had a problem with cold veg either, but I guess they have good days and not so good days, I would still rather go there than most the places recommended on this thread, but horses for courses..

Must admit I have never had poor food at Lords Palace. However, I will no longer go there for one simple reason - "as it really does get absolutely packed."

No wish to be part of the Covid virus swapping parties that seem to have become more popular these days.

Thank you for all your recommendations.

Lords sound very nice, but agree with waddo.
Seems it's still home for Sundays lunch, safer that way.

I hate to go somewhere when you don't have to book and then when you get there, someone comes up to you and says "don't worry, I'm sure we can fit you in somewhere" Particularly when they advertise 12.30 to 3.00, you go in at 2.45 and you know the buffet will be on last knockings!!

Really, so if it is advertised 12 30 to 3.00, why even go at 2.45? Honestly the attitude of some people just defies belief. Enjoy your Sunday lunch wherever you decide to turn up .....

One assumes that if a business advertises lunch from 12.30 to 3.00 that they will be serving a full meal from 12.30 to 3.00. We have a Chinese near us that advertises Sunday lunch up until 5pm and if you go in at say 4.30 you are still offered the full Monty.

The Fez in Catalkoy are now serving their delicious home cooked Sunday Roasts from 1.00pm to .5.00pm There is a choice of 2 courses or three courses. I think they may have put their Christmas decorations up as well.
There is also Club Tropicana in Ozankoy/Catalkoy.Never sure which.,
Both of the above have been recommended.
As others have posted also the Old Mill in Ozankoy. Not tried as yet but often went to Effendi for their Sunday Roast which was always delicious.
You will be spoilt for choice but all need to be booked. . Enjoy .

The Fez is excellent, and really beautiful when the decorations are up. Beef there is always perfect for us. Not sure about Tropicana, as it has very recently changed management. I was told the bar and restaurant has been leased out to the people from Three Crowns in Ozankoy village.

mrsgee had not heard about this. BBB and I have eaten in the week at the Club Tropicana in the past and the food has been delicious and good value. Not had a Sunday lunch there though but others were saying how good it was. I did go to The Fez 3 Sundays ago when it was there first Sunday Winter hours. Beef melted in your mouth. Mine I had asked for to be slightly more done and it was perfect.
Stay safe.

Hiya, yes, we have had the most fabulous Sunday lunches there in the past, so sorry it might not happen again, they were the best ever. Been down today, obviously the new managerx are getting set up... we just had drinks, might be a bit early for food but don't know. All very pleasant. Will miss their fab Sunday lunches though. We wish the new people all the best. You stay safe also.

I spoke to the new manager at Club Tropicana and he said Friday night ( popular for fish n chips n quiz) and Sunday lunch will still be cooked by the same chef that has always done it. So no change on those two days.

Re. Tim's Cafe, not yet had Sunday lunch there yet but when Sandra and Eddie ran the Old Mill their Sunday lunches were fantastic so would expect the same now they are at Tim's!
