So what is really happening with all of these power cuts, lasting all day and into the dark evenings?

Yes, does sound like a bit of a riddle.

In Tatlisu we had no electric all day Tuesday, we were without yesterday until 7.30p.m then it is due to go off again from 9 to 5 today. Seems to becoming rather frequent!

You can go on to the Kibtek phone number and then press 9 for English. After that press the number that says " Planned Power Outages". The first time it worked perfectly, the second time I couldn't quite understand. Finally held on until a lovely lady operator came on and she asked what town we were and gave details. She was twenty minutes out on reconnection!! I gather planned outages are printed in Kibris as well. For those in limbo not knowing connection times the Kibtek number is very handy.
