I’m dreaming of a wet Christmas
Looking at my weather app, looks like you lot are in for a wet Christmas. Booo. What is peoples local weather forecasts saying?
Got a chance to come over for a fortnight this weekend but not sure it’s worth all the hassle this year.

Did emirates ask for a south Cyprus based pcr certificate? In the summer, Qatar airways started refusing north pcr’ so… so we did a few days in larnaca before flying home.

My app gives rain virtually every day up to and after Christmas. I still think the best weather app is Mk I eyeball when you get up in the morning.

Remember first that this is an Island and the weather is liable to change very quickly indeed. The app I use is fairly accurate but I only trust it for no more than three days into the future. Over the past 14 years here I have found that the 3 days rule works for me 95% of the time - of course the 5% when it don't can be "different" - lol.

Agree that the apps are not amazingly accurate, however, handy for giving you a rough idea of what sort of front will be coming in. Anyway, the deciding factor was the flight price. £1600 return for the wife and I. Managed to book end of April / start of May for about £1000. So loads cheaper and probably more reliable weather.
Hope you all have a good Christmas, wherever you may be

I'm not sure which airline you found those prices but did a quick check with THY, ECN 21st Dec to LHR, return 4th Jan, £298. Never seen it so cheap for this period however, reflects how few are booking due to daily changing rule requirements for travel.

Re: I’m dreaming of a wet Christmas
When I checked prices the £298 or thereabouts with Turkish and Pegasus were 10 and 12 hrs at Istanbul the 8hr and 10 hrs flights were double that price.

Connection times are tight but if elderly, book as 'disabled' for free gate transfer, otherwise flights are held back with through baggage & passenger onward journey if checked in from the start.

Qatar airways, direct to larnaca. It’s the only airline for us that fly directly there, so do not have a choice. TA go to ercan via Istanbul but they are roughly the same price.

Re: I’m dreaming of a wet Christmas
In the Bahamas battening down the hatches when they get a hurricane warning takes a couple of days but 9/10 times the hurricane misses them. You can guarantee if you were to take a gamble on not bothering though....Cuba however always gets hit. A lot of people don’t realise that Cuba is pretty big so likely to catch a bit of any storm/hurricanewaddo wrote: ↑Mon 13 Dec 2021 6:10 pmRemember first that this is an Island and the weather is liable to change very quickly indeed. Re: I’m dreaming of a wet Christmas
As I said no problems for relatives with negative PCR within 72 hours…leaving from the North either at the Border or arriving / departing Larnaca via Emirates..
Even more surprising no PCR arrival test was required on arrival at Dubai airport..(they expecting to be tested on arrival….)
However day 2 and day 6 tests were required…£10 each…inexpensive….
