Yippee - Residency

Got It!! Must have to admit its a bit strange after 17+ years of having it stamped in Passport to finally receive a plain A4 sheet of paper, but at least I can choose who reads it and who doesn't. It ran out on 7th August 2021, so to receive it today ( for 2 years) is a bit of a bonus, having learned how long some people have to wait. (:Z)(

We’ll done! I was surprised to actually be asked for the piece of paper (together with PCR cert and Adapass page) when I flew back in last Thursday. I thought it would show up on the immigration officer’s system based on passport number.

I take it you need to print it out yourself. Also how many weeks has it taken start to end?

CW03. As mentioned in a thread way back I paid someone to do it all for me and received quite a bit of stick. I received a call two days ago from Agent who did all the fetching and carrying and today he handed me two printed A4 sheets of copy paper (residency). Proceedings started on or around 10th September, should have visited police 28th September, I put put it off until 6th October.. Agent took money and paperwork to obtain medical on or around 12th September. I don't know when Agent collected paperwork from Lefkosa, just know I picked it up this morning.

BJB ta for that. I don't blame you for using an agent to do it. Yes it may be easier than the old system in that you don't have to go an queue at Lefkosa Immigration but it can still be a difficult process if you are not confident with computers.

I keep checking on line every week to see if ours has moved on yet without actually expecting it to have done. It will happen at some point and then we can relax for almost another two years.

As for people giving you stick I was of the impression we were all allowed to make our own decisions still in this life and I suspect the thoughts of these individuals bothered you little.

Your agent would just print it out from their computer the same as you would yourself. No need to go to Lefkosa.

All I had to do was go to Girne and see the police (agent escorted us just in case there were any queries) In and out in less than 10 mins followed by some retail therapy. I didn't have to do the medical bit either. I just picked up the Residency papers from the Agent in Girne yesterday, a cup of coffee and out. Why not pay a local in Sterling when they are crying out for money. I'm not bothered who printed it out and where. It was done for me and a local benefitted.

Obviously it is your choice but using an agent hasn't saved you any running around and they certainly cannot take a blood test for you so you clearly didn't require one.

I'm happy to help anyone in the Karsiyaka/Lapta area apply for residency and it won't cost a thing.

I'm sorry J and J, but I have not done any running around whatsoever (other that a 15 min visit to police in Girne) Everything has been done for me. And NO, I didn't need a blood test, the only blood test I've had was 17 years ago and NO I didn't require Police check, nor have I every done so.

The Police cert is only required for Permission To Purchase.... but the logic of only people buying needing to be vetted escapes me... oh I know, wrong 'uns don't rent, that must be it!

I suppose its because if you buy, then they have something that they can use as leverage, if you rent you can do a runner before they take your passport away. I often wish we were renters!

I understand but the point I was trying to make is that there isn't any running around full stop other than the police station visit and blood test if you qualify. Maybe you are not aware of that? I am genuinely not trying to be awkward.
