Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine Booster
I had had 2 Astra Zenica vaccinations and was due a Biontech booster on 7th January. Staff at medical clinic in Gacitkale had advised that the 6 months from 2nd vaccination had changed last week to 3 months. I had my booster today.

Same here in UK now. My booster was after 6 months a few weeks ago but that was before Omicron. We've certainly come a long way from a year ago when we were completely defenceless against COVID.

Went up to Esentepe this morning, they hadn't got the memo re 3 months since 2nd Astrazeneca jab but were happy to believe me, maybe because they didn't have any Biontech. I read an article from Kıbrıs Gazetesi last night where Pilli said there were no shortages and Esentepe had more than 300 vaccines, maybe they are all Sinovac...

Re: Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine Booster
I have volunteered at a mass vaccination centre here in U.K. since it opened in January this year. Putting aside any politics, I can say that the U.K. vaccine rollout has been outstanding.
Since the latest government announcement the centre has in the last three days seen record numbers attending for vaccinations. Hours have been extended from 8am - midnight and planned closures over Christmas have been cancelled.
The amount of effort to enable those who want a vaccine to get one is fantastic. We fully expect this massive surge in numbers to continue for at least another 6 weeks.

Poshindevon, I can well believe your description of what the centres are like. My daughter is a practice nurse and has been "jabbing" as soon as vaccines were available. She and her colleagues were hoping for a lessening of pressure for while, but no such luck. She is now working a 14 hour day in order to (hopefully) enable her to have Christmas and Boxing Day off (which she will probably spend sleeping). The NHS owes hers over 4 weeks holiday, whether she will get it during 2022 is open to discussion. As she says, she doesn't need the money, she just needs a rest.

I can understand fully what you are saying. Our daughter is also a nurse. The pressure the NHS is under is huge. Since the vaccination centre opened in Jan this year, I am still seeing the same people as I saw on day 1. This includes NHS admin staff taken out of the hospitals to carry out the admin tasks at the centre, nurses supplemented by retired NHS employees and newly trained vaccinators, plus of course volunteers and security staff.benjaminbutton wrote: ↑Thu 16 Dec 2021 3:01 pmPoshindevon, I can well believe your description of what the centres are like. It isn’t now about if we have enough vaccine, it’s more about do we have the people to keep these centres going. The increased opening hours and additional days opened over the Christmas period is adding to the pressure.
From a volunteering perspective, there is a rally call for more to sign up. However; there are still large gaps requiring to be filled over the next 3 weeks. Plus of course new volunteers take time to get up to speed on how the operation runs. The huge increase in those booking for the vaccine of course doesn’t stop.
In the summer we were averaging approximately 1,000 clients/day. In the last week this has increased to over 3,500/day. Yesterday with the opening of a drive thro facility alongside the main centre the number hit 4,750. Despite the pressures there is a fantastic team spirit and no one can say that the U.K. response over the last week is nothing short of impressive.
