T.O.M. 89

In order to clarify the current situation regarding the above and in particular the apparent discrepancies in the duration of time the document is issued to people, I emailed the RoC Department of Transport and asked for clarification.

This morning I received a reply from the Senior Technical Inspector and I have copied this below for all to be aware of:

Announcement

RE: Temporary circulation license and temporary driving license

Temporary licenses are only issued for:
• Turkish Cypriots and citizens of EU: (duration one year)

• U.K. nationals provided they are allowed by the immigration office to pass in the territory controlled by the Republic of Cyprus: (duration one day)

ROAD TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT

Another Brexit effect - Merry Christmas everyone!

Just increases their workload, silly really. You only need one day to get a Makky D's.
They'll soon realise they are overworking themselves with no time for coffee breaks, then back to the one year TOM.
ps. not at all surprised that you had a response to an email on this issue, email probably landed on the wrong persons job load.

Have you passed this on to the BRS to put forward to the BHC for clarification?
Where does that leave those of us who were issued with a year's T.O.M.

If you have got it, then just use it. Unless they simply do not let you cross their border.

Panchocat, No I have not passed it onto the BRS for clarification, why should I? If their members want clarification then they can ask the BRS themselves.

It is a simple process to just email the right office/department in the RoC if anyone is interested, they are very quick to reply and easy to deal with.

I have passed a copy of the document to contact@infonorthcyprus.com to enable "Everyone" to have the details.

Should you wish to enquire about what happens to those who have already been issued with a year's T.O.M. 89 then they can do so by emailing their enquiry to roadtransport@rtd.mcw.gov.cy however, I would advise against doing that in case their T.O.M. 89 is cancelled on the next crossing!

Deniz1, lucky them, we must have got Mr Misery on 19th Aug, only gave us one month. Guess when we start our next 90 days next month it will be on the new 1 day only system, I can see lots of trade lost in the South with this system and lots of work for the single issuing booth.

Sad part for us is the length of journey to get to Dhekelia fish and chip shop - lol.

Just combine Dhekelia with a shopping trip. We finish at the Mall of Cyprus and head down the road for fish'n'chips. Does the car good to have a blurt down the motorway.
Our 12 months runs out in June so for us the really
sad thing is that if only one day is being issued we cannot go and have a couple of days away in Peyia!

Panchocat, That was a point I raised with them as well but as normal the reply was “speak to the hand” - lol. Their loss I feel but sad that no more nights away! I think things will change eventually.

Now the BRS have had confirmation that one day only TOM will be issued and any already granted for longer periods are now invalid it sends lots of issues our way.
No weekend breaks, no driving through any border except Metahan no picking up late arrivals from Larnaca. How petty can they be?!

Their loss, we used to shop at least 3 times a month, no longer, not been there since the start of the pandemic. Don't really miss it now.

I would love to see a couple of hundred UK expats turn up every day for a week to get their TOM - lol. Guess it won’t happen but it’s the thought that counts.
