Beware of scammers on WhatsApp!

Wife received text on WhatsApp saying:
“Mum, I’ve changed from provider, this is my new number. You can delete my old number ok . xx”
When you reply they then go on to ask for help in paying a bill of £1400+
Looks like this may be a local Turkish scam as they gave a bank account in the name of Elanur Saglam.
Do not respond in first instance and contact your son or daughter first on their “old” number.
Be careful out there….

Totally and utterly

As I read this, I'm also watching "Hill Street Blues" - Morning Roll Call, Sgt Phil Esterhaus.... " Let's be careful out there..."

Hope that your wife reported it to police Soner. Seems to be a few scams on the go here at the moment, and police have recently arrested some here.

Found out that the account was a Cashplus account and reported to them. Also, reported it to Whatsapp. I tried to string person on for as long as I could, to get as much info as I could out of them.

Scum of the earth. Hope that they are caught and brought to justice, and that no one falls for this scam.
Don't know about anyone else, but if my offspring are looking for money, it's always a call if they can't see me in person, they would never send a message. Daughter has given me password for a social media account, as she has occasionally lost it and messages me for it. I put her through a list of obscure security questions which only she would know, just in case someone else has possession of her phone.

This is a worldwide scam, not just something local.
