Hi,
Not sure what search engine you use (if any) I just checked Gatwick to Ercan 15th July for two weeks two passengers with sky scanner 334 sterling with decent wait time in Istanbul.

In my previous experiences, of which like many others, there have been many, Skyscanner (other comparison sites are available), is a good place to start. But do check airline websites direct as well. I have obtained better prices direct on a few occasions compared to going to the same airline via Skyscanner - two out of the last three trips in fact. Don't forget Skyscanner is a comparison site and whilst it does most of the initial work for you, the price you see will seldom be the price you pay once you've added all the extras you need when you go to the airline website that you select from the list of results provided. Also the results will give a list of airlines and prices for example for one airline might say £613 total, 9 deals from £307. If you want the £307 it may be with a different airline and the one you want, in the case i just looked at for September, was 7th down the list and about £150 dearer. You can probably guess which one.

Play around with dates and times. Sometimes you can get a better price simply by leaving a day earlier or later, or even by just a few hours. Do the comparisons well in advance to get a feel as to what is normal or feels right as you get nearer to the time to consider booking. Though you may be slightly restricted for date options during school holidays.

Flying out of one airport and coming back to another, or using airline combinations is usually cheaper but may involve more admin which may not be a problem unless something goes wrong. I usually select the same airline in and out as well as the same airport but this is simply for convenience mainly due to parking there while I'm away.

Also Robert157, as you said., school holiday times. Travel companies and airlines aren't stoopid. I just tried Skyscanner for 25th July to 7th August, 2 people, Any London to Larnaca, Direct flight using same airport and same airline, cheapest was £416 pp without any add-ons. Give or take a day or 2 made about £15 pp difference. Same airline direct on their website but coming back a day early on 6th August worked out £368pp without add-ons.

Reckon that's pretty cheap.
What will be six years ago, economy flights into Larnaca were £500.
I ended up buying TA business class for £560
