Antigen Test Today

Going South in the morning and realised a bit late that our current tests 7 day period will expire at 10:18 in the morning. Playing it safe so went to Near East Hospital Girne to get new tests. Booked tests online and as normal wife's did not work due to a problem with her AdaPass details not being correct, have given up trying to get it corrected after the sixth attempt at correcting by various offices. Went anyway as I can have a free one and from experience she can have one if she pay's for it.

Now comes the fun, I went first and all paperwork in order, stick up the hooter and away to wait for the result. Wife next, failed as they can't find her details on the system so can't have a free test. No problem she can pay for her's, just go downstairs inside the ambulance station and take the test and pay for it there.

Really!!! All was fine till we got there, you can't have a test today, come back tomorrow - NO - need a test today. Much mumbling going on but eventually test carried out, pay's by card as no money held there. When will I get the result she ask's - in the next 12 hours she is told!!! Wow, so fast. Will I still get an SMS to let me find out my result - NO, you have to put in your passport number to get the result.

Now we have done these test many times and mostly paid for them, the SMS always provides you with a barcode so you can get your results. However, no SMS = no barcode but we do have the 7 digit barcode sticker off the test she took. Keep trying that but nothing happening yet.

So now just wondering if anyone else has ever had this same (No barcode) problem and found a way around it? Still going South anyway as the South never have checked our tests going through the check points and only once been asked for it in the North side coming back. With luck the 12 hours will have passed and we will have her results but if not and they stop her coming back over again she will only have to wait until midnight anyway. At midnight it becomes the 1st of March and they won't be needed anymore - you can't make this up so don't try - lol.

I'm one of the people who have been shot down in flames because of what I consider to be a complete and upper c===k up with PRC's and antigen tests. When it goes right the system is terrific, but more and more times it is going wrong. I can't make out whether id____s are in charge these days or what. Waddo is not the only person who, in the last two weeks I have spoken to who have had problems. I don't know whether its the people operating the system or the system itself.

Update - Got the results for wife as Neg same as mine. Found out what the problem is as well although I should have known better myself after 15 years of living here - so I am claiming old age and stupidity as my sole excuse.

The whole problem, as it is with many other problems here, is simple - it's the language barrier as normal.

A misunderstanding about what we had to do - because one important fact was missed out of the Turkish/English conversation, probably because the Turkish lady did not have enough use of English and we did have even less use of Turkish - so things just get left out because you don't know how to say them.

In this case it was left out that we had to go back there "Within 12 hours with the passport" to get the results from there. Once we found that bit out it was simplicity itself and the results were ready and waiting to be picked up. The best thing I can suggest for anyone is that you make friends with a Turkish speaker if you do not have a full grasp of the language, that will solve 99% of misunderstandings and prevent problems.

Our fault entirely and my thanks to all those who helped.

Having had to wait 12 hours, suggests to me that she had a PCR test and not an Antigen Test. Antigen test results are usually ready in 20/30 minutes.

Soner, Definitely an Antigen test (Cost 40TL) but our fault due lack of Turkish language and a bit of nose out of joint by the staff who did not want to do it in the first place - lol. Anyway, all in the past now and won't need it again from tomorrow I guess. Won't be going South in a hurry now as the next run will be for fish and chips and a long day of driving through Metahan to get there but quick back via SBA crossing. Next month will be the last of the 90 days of freedom then back into the open prison for another 90 days - lol.

Next time you fancy fish and chips, let me know a few days before and I take you over. (8))
