Classic car age... a question

It is my understanding that a car over 25 years of age can be imported as a classic car as long as it's registered as such in the UK, but do you have to have owned it for 5 years? As I was discussing this with a friend and this point was not decided... he's thinking of doing so but the ownership rule would scupper this if it is 5 years owned required.

This doesn't really clarify the situation and ironically states that a classic car must be less than 12 years old! Which would definitely not be a 'classic car'....

classic car is >25 years of age.
It can be imported by someone who obtains TRNC residency ( Immovable property / high income visa ) when first relocating to TRNC and in this case cars over 5 years old is allowed but ownership > 2 years is required ( from my understanding )

They must stay on the island for a consecutive 60 days before an application at the Gumruk ( customs) can be made and have to obtain residency.
They can only import 1 car if over 5 years old but must have owned it for more than 2 years on the V5C log book.
The customs will use the original factory purchase price / initial invoice from back then to assess the charges payable for classic cars.
The calculation includes value of the car then less 23% vat , then add the freight costs to arrive at the Total GBP value.

This new total value in GBP is then converted to a TL value which they :
then add 10 % customs
then add 4.4 % Dock fee
then add 2.5% military contribution
then add the TL charge for the Cubic capacity based on engine size ( see rates below ) ie. 1600cc x 2.03 TL = 3,248 TL

Cubic Capacity TL rate
upto 1600 per CC - 2.03
1601 - 2250 - 4.03
2251 - 2999 - 7.53
>3000 - 10.53

Then on this final TL total they add 20% VAT / KDV

This is the amount of TLs payable to the customs.

After there is the motor vehicle registration charges and Road Tax.

Did they not increase the classic car definition to 30 years some time back.
