Breaking news after a government meeting tonight so sorry for late request

Please everyone from Tatlisu join our Mayor Hayri Orcan and our Muhtar Leyla Çiçek Güvenlier outside the Belediye Building in Tatlisu tomorrow Saturday 12th between 14:00 - 15:00 to protest against the government potentially closing our Belediye. There will be journalists and tv reporters present.

Hopefully as many as possible from Tatlisu area can attend to show our support.
I was passed on this message from a friend, who I think got it through Facebook.

As a (seven-year old) swallow, I sort of considered a belediye as similar to a local (borough) council in a "metropolitan area/county" in the UK - just how can a belediye (or council) just be wiped out of existence?


Sorry; I forgot - politicians, be they local or national, in any and every nation, can do whatever they want....

Indeed, appears they are the same all over the world, and look what a hash they are making of things as it is.
From what I can gather there has been no consultation with any of the belediye about this, and it's just been sprung on them. I am sure that Gecitkale and Serdarli Belediye and villagers, who are the other two areas being put together with Tatlisu, are not happy about it either.

It was announced a few weeks ago they are going to reduce the amount of Beledeyesi’s to around 12 areas as a cost cutting exercise and to reduce staff numbers.

Yes it was ljarvo, but with no prior consultation with any of the belediye, if I understand it correctly. They have already backed down on 12 and said 13 now, so that Gonyeli still has it's own bele, although I have no knowledge of what went on there.
