Needing some for a veggie/vegan bacon recipe I want to try out. Anyone seen it here, and if so where? Preferably east side of Girne.

Try Sah, they might have it as they have a good range of products.

Thanks TB10pilot. I had a look in both Sah and Erdener last week and couldn't see any. I'll have a look in Health shop in Catalkoy next time am along that way.

Excuse me showing my ignorance but what exactly is Miso Paste. The reason I ask is that a smallish independent supermarket at the bottom of our road in Alsancak, has a stand of the most extraordinary ingredients I've ever seen and by and large I don't have a clue what they are for!! (the stand is close to the two checkouts)

Japanese in origin and is made from fermented soy beans. It's supposed to add that "umami" taste, whatever the heck that is. I've never had it, so no idea, it's just required in this recipe that I want to try out, and no point in making it without it. Apparently it comes in red or white, and that's the end of my knowledge, thanks to Google.

Worst comes to worst, will get some in UK when I am back there, hopefully later this year, but fingers crossed Health Store will have it.

If you do come into Alsancak and pass the Elysee Supermarket, just pop in, they do have strange stuff.

There were some miso cubes in the big Ilelli yesterday. Similar size to Knorr stock cubes packets. In the organic section. I don’t know if that’s what you want but worth a look if you can’t find the paste elsewhere.

Thank you very much Kedikat. I will bear that in mind. Don't think it would work for what I have in mind, but I'd certainly be willing to give them a try for a flavouring for soup or veg.
