Mass shooting in USA

Yet another mass shooting in a school in America. 19 children and 2 adults killed. I can't understand how a person can walk into a gun store and just buy a semi auto weapon.

Benjaminbuton, sorry but you are so wrong, I will never understand why military type weapons can be privately owned. I will never understand why in some states you can just walk into a gunstore and buy any weapon. I can not understand why these people always seem to target schools and never police stations where his targets can fire back.

I agree with you to some extend, but you said you didn't understand why someone would go into a gun store and buy a gun. . Its because its their god given right to do so, hence they'll do it. Regardless of mental state or not.

I am sorry but owning a gun is not a god given right.

The Americans are mental on this. I personally wouldn’t have one but I can see some might want a handgun for home security but that isn’t enough for some. They need semi automatic weapons just in case their government decides to violently suppress its people. The problem is their government will have jets, aircraft carriers etc etc. so their semi automatic weapons are over the top for home security and as much use as a pea shooter should their government fall to tyranny.

Benjaminbutton, what I said was that in some states to be able to just walk into a store and buy a gun is wrong. Rigorous checks should always be in place. To be allowed to buy a semi automatic weapons is madness. I do understand why people do feel the need for handgun ownership. Sadly I don't feel that this tragedy or more that will happen will change anything!

Like you I agree it is all total madness, but whilst the NRA (who have their conference and massive exhibition) on at the moment still prattle on about their constitution and are actively encouraged by the Moron Trump AND who more or less sponsor most of the Republican party (and to my horror) have just realised a percentage of the Democrats as well. There is no hope of bringing a Law along the lines of banning semi-automatic military style weapons. I haven't heard the recent speech of the head of the NRA, but no-one seems to have any control over them. Clinton and Obama gave up as a lost cause, Biden just waffles and so it goes on. And the NRA are to all intents and purposes a Political Party unto themselves with immense clout. Lets hope they stay away although they have affiliated branches all over the world.

The NRA are such a rich and powerful lobby group & so many Americans are nuts about their guns that I’d say any Presidential candidate who outright said if I get elected then I will ban all guns, he or she wouldn’t get elected. So at best you’ll get a candidate like Obama or Clinton make a mealy mouthed promise about bringing in some controls with a wink that he has no real intention of doing anything.

We will never get the idiots in America to change the law. I have family there now, and whilst some are totally against arms, some are for it. I feel like I am hitting my head off a brick wall.

Don't do that AM, not worth it. I was watching a programme a few months ago, when this oaf was proudly showing off the gun he was going to give to his 10 year old for Christmas. He said it would only be used on their farm land and he was a sensible boy. With that attitude, yes, a definite head and brick wall scenario with a total nutter, bringing another nutter into the wide world.

I won't BB, promise. It just defies belief that anyone would think it appropriate to give a 10 year old a weapon.
