Taste restaurant - Les Ambassadeurs

Further to my last post requesting ideas for a venue to host a 25th wedding anniversary meal, Taste restaurant has come across as a potential winner.

I'd like to ask, has anyone tried this place, and if so, how would you review it?

How is the food, service and would it make for a nice venue?

The views seem really good,

TIA

Oh yes Deniz1, absolutely lovely and views to die for as well as a walk around the Abbey (but perhaps not inside at that time of the evening?) and the village, Super. Had totally forgotten that one. Best there is, with tables correctly set up. Touch of class.

They have just added an electrically controlled canopy over the outside dining area with rugs and table lamps so extending the season for outside dining.

Hi AFC in answer to your question I have been to Shell Wi the restaurant below but not Taste

I have known a few people that have and they said the burger was very good

The interiors of the restaurants are international standard very nice

The Taste Chef is well know from Turkey

Maybe go and meet the Manager and have a chat with them

Hi
We went to the Raste and both had steaks which were excellent plays we started with their cheeseboard which was excellent value at 70tl for good selection of imported cheeses but far too much to eat. Steaks large and very well cooked.great service and views

I'm always interested to read when someone says the steaks are great. It must be me but I think beef, especially steaks are, simply dreadful. I've been handed pieces of fillet steak from someones plate, in order that they could prove me wrong, but once the pepper sauce is removed, the beef has absolutely NO TASTE whatsoever, tender I grant you, but a "proper" beef taste - never. You can tell it hasn't been hung long enough and so much of the lamb is actually goat, you can tell my the bones. I suppose we have been horribly spoiled back in the UK. Lamb from North Wales, free range black turkey from Norfolk, same goes with Norfolk and its fabulous pork. There are still a fairly decent amount of "proper" butchers in Norfolk and Suffolk - some with full game licenses to kill their own produce. Little or no Supermarkets involved (unless you are lucky enough to have a Co-op nearby) That's why over the years we eat more and more veggies here. We might have to pay a little more, but honestly it really is worth it. Even if in these terrible times back in the UK, I would go without cheappie stuff from a supermarket, just to be able to eat decent food, a couple of times a week.

This is quite tasty - https://www.alphamega.com.cy/en/groceri ... agyu-350-g - but you only get what you pay for in the end. Don't forget to add on the car insurance and the fuel cost but it still works out cheaper than a flight to the UK - but only just, lol.

I tried Taste yesterday evening and whilst the food was good in comparison to what else there is North Cyprus, when comparing with restaurants of a similar stature outside of ncyp I couldn't help but have a feeling of being left underwhelmed.

The starter came with half a slice of toast from a loaf from lemar, with melted sliced cheese used in burgers.

Two steaks were ordered on our table and both whilst cooked well, came on a plate that could barely accommodate them with no accompanying sauce or sides.

I had a similar meals in Istanbul and whilst I accept this is not of that standard, it was still a poor reflection of what could have been an excellent meal with some thought and imagination in presenting the food and a simple sauce on the side.

AFC and terry2366 have just confirmed what I feel re good quality steak or beef. Even when presented with well hung meat, behind the scenes in the Kitchen there is rarely the staff who have the qualification or expertise, to treat the meat as it ought to be treated. But on some nights it is possible to hit the right note. I've taken on board your notes on Alphmega, don't think I'll be making that particular trip.
