Kıb-Tek has not sent the invoices yet.
Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK) still has not sent the electricity bills it sends to its subscribers on the first of every month, even though it is the 3rd of June.Considering that the invoices can be sent on Monday at the earliest, a 35-day invoice will be sent to the citizens.
Due to this situation that will make citizens suffer, many people reveal their reproaches on social media.
As the kilowatt rises, the usage zone also increases, which creates grievances for the citizens.

Like you wander, we have no bill, have checked with Kibtek and they haven't a clue what it is. Getting concerned that a whopper is on its way. Have been avoiding fans or A/c and shutting stuff off as much as possible to try and lessen the shock. Haven't even put overflow on pool yet!!

I read something in one of the online papers yesterday that Kibtek were going to make allowances for the late bill, so that customers were not inconvenienced. It's something to do with the fuel tax to be agreed by the govt. Sorry for being so vague. If I find the article I'll post it.
Edit:
Sorry, can't find it.

It was that they would make allowances for the late bill in relation to the 3 different rates that we are charged. Whether that means they can reset everyone to the lowest rate from the beginning of the month is anyones guess. It's a right flipping mess to be sure.

In the past, the 250 units per price band were based on a 30 day month (or 31, I can't remember), so 8 ish units per day.
For example - if your bill covers a 60 day period your bill should show 500 units per price band, or if your bill covered a 45 day period it should show 375 units per price band.
So for each extra day you should get an extra 8 ish units in each band, which is perfectly fair.
I don't know if they are still calculating bills in this way - you will have to look at your next bill when it arrives.
Of course, they may well find other ways to charge you more though.

https://www.kibrisgazetesi.com/kibris/y ... 28956.html
Former Board Member of Cyprus Turkish Electricity Corporation (KIB-TEK), Yusuf Avcıoğlu, emphasized that the reason why KIB-TEK still does not send invoices is that it tries to apply a retroactive increase. Making a statement on his social media account, Avcıoğlu said: As of today, Kıb-Tek still has not sent invoices to subscribers for the period of May 2022! As it can be understood from the statements made by the Chairman of the Board of Directors in the past days, the reason for the delay in the invoices is an attempt to apply a RELATIVE CHARGE. Although the anticipated increase is 56 Kurus/kWh, 26 Kurus portion of 56 Kurus is applied to tariffs other than the State Tariff, and the remaining 30 Kurus is added to the State Tariffs. Any Business calculates the costs of the goods and services it sells according to the current costs, therefore, the Electricity Unit Price is based on 2.7 TL/kWh as it is written on the Authority's Web Page. Therefore, the price of a product/service produced/sold in May has been adjusted according to the Electricity Unit Price of 2.7TL/kWh. Applying a retroactive increase is a situation that will put both businesses and households in a lot of trouble and loss. Moreover, in the second paragraph of the 5th article of the Electricity Development Regulation; "Tariff adjustments according to the change in Electricity Cost elements are calculated in accordance with the method determined in the fourth paragraph below and ENTERED INTO EFFECT BY PUBLISHING ON THE KIBTEK WEB PAGE with the Decision of the Board of Directors." clearly states. As of 08.06.2022 (today), the Electricity Unit Price is still stated as 2.7 TL/kWh, according to the Tariffs Section of the Kıb-Tek Web Page. Therefore, according to the Current Electricity Development Regulation, the planned Electricity Raise comes into force by being published on the Kib-Tek Web Page and CANNOT BE BACKGROUND! It seems that there was no opportunity to make a Tariff Arrangement from Seat Fighting! A CITIZEN CANNOT BE INVOICED for not making the tariff arrangement that should be made on time, whoever caused the delay should be responsible for this. In this way, I would like to state in advance that IF THE DECISION IS TAKEN AGAINST THE REGULATION OF REFUND, THE ISSUE WILL BE TAKEN TO THE COURT.

It seems like Kibtek were going to try to apply a raise in price for the whole of May after the month had ended - therefore they were holding back the bills until they had figured out how much more they could charge. However that practise is not allowed and the rate charged for May has to remain the same or Kibtek gets taken to court. I think that is what it all means but I also expect that the new rates will be higher than the last anyway so they will find a new way to squeeze more money of us all in July.
Meanwhile, nobody has a bill yet and it may be some time before we get one - lol.

I dont claim to understand the ' politics ' of the tie up between Kib tek and the TRNC government. But it is clear for all to see that the situation is getting worse by the day. I hear that one of the two still working old steam generators has now failed because of lack of maintenance. There are already oil generators out of action because they have failed and have not been repaired and Kib teks solution to this is to impose more power cuts on their customers!!!!!!! We are all waiting for our bills this month apparently because Kib tek are waiting for the government to fix the fuel levy which will be applied to the bills. Is it not time that something drastic is done about the electricity supply to the island ( north )? There are more and more housing developments being built all over the place and so an increase in power usage is inevitable, but we seem to just trundle along from crisis to crisis.
Please just sort it out!!!!!!
Confused from Bahceli.

It's just absolutely crazy that we are all suffering power cuts through this fiasco. If last night was anything to go by, the one hour power cuts have become 3 hours.

There seems no solution to the problems at the generating station. Whilst we admire the ingenuity and the way that almost anything can be repaired here in the TRNC, I feel that the equipment is well past that stage.
The only real solution would be a connection to Turkiye, with all the political ramifications that would no doubt involve. Plus of course it will not be a quick fix.
Whilst some may think that big businesses; hotels etc are not paying there bills and hence the lack of income/lack of investment means the average customer suffers, none of us really knows the situation. Even if a sudden wave of money came in, it will not have any affect in the short term. The equipment is time expired and it will take a long time to replace or find alternatives.
In the meantime I think that these power cuts are something we will have to get used to and will be with us for a long time. Customers will be feeling the pain.

The continued and ghastly developments around Girne and that coast line present very clear stress upon infrastructure or lack of.
The traffic is horrendous going both ways in and out of the town and I'm certain many have experienced the change in volumes over past few years alone.
The pressures upon water supply have been somewhat addressed by the new turkey pipeline. The generation of power must certainly be on the agenda to upgrade. I imagine the administration are already cap in hand to the mainland for necessary works. The big spending hotels and casinos should be fearful of the increasing power shortages ( there is only so much emergency generators can do when business demand is only going one way)
I'm afraid the domestic market plays second fiddle to the issue. It is evident that Investment continues to come into the region from Turkey. The latest new road extension taking traffic now as far Yenirenkoy on the Karpaz is well underway.
Perhaps an all new power station without the belching smoke is on the cards.

I pay my electric bill by bank transfer . And my last two bills that have been paid by the bank, have been less than what the bills i received from kib tek were. The difference being the discount. All very confusing but the figures match so i assume the bills are correct. Must say i was pleasantly surprised at the bill for this month, mind you i have been walking around in the dark and not washed my clothes for a month so i didn't use too much power.

Are you sure Waddo? I've just received my bill by email and the rebate is on it. Mine was 122 TL sent by SMS and is shown as Bakiye (balance). Of course if you were already in credit, this could be hidden in the balance. My Period Total was 503, balance 122, total to pay 381.
I've just tried to pay it on Paypoint, and it's not showing up there yet at the moment.

Bills received by SMS show the period total, not the amount actually due. Normally it is the same, but with this latest palaver of adding fuel tax etc and then giving rebates, figures are out of sync.

alphamike, you are dead right and both "rebate" payments have been made. Because I always keep my account in credit and when I receive a new bill I decide if I am going to pay it (It has already been paid from the credit anyway) by adding that amount of the bill back into credit OR if I just ignore it and let the credit in my account take care of it - the figures in the balance of the bill are never up to date and by the time the next bill comes in the new amount of credit plus the "rebate" have been added together to form the real balance for last month.
Confusing till I looked backwards and finally figured it all out, thank you for the "heads up" on that and my apologies to Kibtec for assuming they still owed me money.

Just received my bill; as a "swallow" I pay a lump sum every now and then and thus am well in credit - this month's bill shows my credit increased by exactly the "Fuel Expenses" amount plus KDV - i.e. a refund!

It does appear that Kibtek are applying the rebate sent by SMS last month to those who receive bills by email.
For those who just receive SMS bills, this does not have the rebate deducted, so your actual bill should be less.
Itemised email for me showed I have 381 TL to pay, but the SMS showed 503 TL, without the reduction of 122TL rebate.
Think everyone not already receiving itemised bills should follow Come-on-Aylin's excellent instructions, and saves the bother of a trip to Kibtek office.
