Very subjective, I think my dentist is great, others think theirs is the best. This discussion can go on for ever, check on Forum history and it can depend on what it is you are looking for. Some advertise and say they are experts on Implants, others actually go on manufacturers courses and are more experienced. Best to go to a dentist that has the equivalent of an MRI head scanner so that a complete all round Xray of all your teeth can be had.

Answer to the question is no.
Over last 3 weeks I have had appointments at my dentist, firstly root canal and cap, extraction and finishing with a small bridge being fitted.
There are lots of recommendations on the forum for dentists which of course are worth taking into consideration. However; perhaps better to firstly to understand what treatment people have had and why they recommend. Some dentists may be great for fillings, extractions etc but maybe not so good for dentures. Once you make your choice, discuss fully with the dentist what treatment they will give and costs.
I have had no issues with my dentist who has done a very good job.
