Water pump “spindle seal leak”

Can anyone help, neighbour had new water pump (2.5 yrs old ) not used re c19, now out to finally enjoy to find water pump is leaking around the pump spindle area.
Can it be re-sealed or will he have to purchase a new pump ?

There's a place near Blue Island opposite Petrol station Catalkoy main road. They do pump repairs

It’s only the washers. It happens sometimes when you don’t use your pump for long time. Take it to that shop he is good and cheap. Sometimes it cures its self

You have a leaking mechanical seal. This is located behind the impeller.its job is to keep the water in the pump casing while allowing the motor to rotate. No need to renew the pump. As mentioned it may just reseat itself or a strip down will be needed. Not a major job!

We had the same with ours found a how tooon YouTube and fixed ourselves , just had to purchase the washers . As thornaby said not a major job ,
