Procession Caterpillars

Just to warn everyone, we have just noticed there are many nests while walking our dogs and some of them have hatched and are on the move. These are very dangerous to pets, please be aware. They nest in the pine cone trees and the nests look like cotton wool.They will l,ast until March, please take care with your pets.

Yup, you're on the ball MM. We have just cut down and burned our first cocoons last week. The little "ooops" are of no use to man nor beast, we've even seen birds spit them out. They are dreadful things.
