Are you certain that it is woodworm and not the dreaded termite?

Almost certainly termites, spray with ant spray or powder to prevent spread, however the whole door frame should be replaced.... it's not an expensive repair here.

We had the same problem, had both doors & frames replaced with metal ones. Tescomar in Catalcoy carried out the work.

Thank you . They are internal bathroom and bedroom doors. Would metal look out of place ?

We had our ground floor door frames taken out and replaced, fill in the below ground hole that is left and treat the new wood.
All done by Ersem trading in Alsancak .

Almost certainly termites.
I have replaced several door frames. I prefer wooden windows , doors and shutters as they are more in keeping with Cypriot heritage.
the masses of UPVC and aluminium in even classic style villas is not attractive in my view.
Termites will not emerge from within wood fibre. Even surface paint will halt them emerging.
They attack from below and nests are underground within soil.
I recommend that if you replace wooden structures in contact with the ground; coat the lower contact area with bitumen or heavy oil based paint.
Not guaranteed to work but certainly my replaced frames are still strong and termite free after 4 yrs.

We had the front door and downstairs bathroom door replaced with aluminium doors. We have become used to the bathroom door over the years!! Had to be better than termites. They were previously replaced by wooden ones but the termites thought that we had adopted them!! Good luck.
