Why was my passport not stamped at Ercan?

We came to N Cyprus via Ercan recently and noticed our passports had not been stamped. We also realised that they had not been done on our last visit in 2017. I am wondering about this because we want to stay for 4 to 6 weeks next year and not sure how long we can stay. I know the maximum is 90 days but have been told you only get 30. Nothing is in our passport. We are both over 70 and wonder if this is why no period has been given.
Anyone been in a similar position?

As far I'm aware and I'm sure I'll be corrected shortly if I'm wrong, they don't stamp passports at Ercan or the internal "borders". I always ask them to stamp mine and they do, with me holding the first available page open so they don't stamp in the middle of the book. You need to make a note of how long you stay so you don't go over your visa. I think you can also get more 30 days if you request it, but whether that's anyone or just swallows i don't know.

Ercan used to always stamp the passport and more importantly write in the days, not sure why the stamping of passports at Ercan or internal border would be stopped just when the system became more complicated.

We came at the end of May and cam through Ercan, my white slip was stamped, hubbys passport was stamped, even though he gave them his white slip. This maybe because we asked for 90 days. We were told they would only give us 90 days once and we had to apply for residency. We don’t want to do that as we’d never stay long enough to complete the process. Shooting themselves in the foot really as will now stay less than 30 days when we may have stayed 6 - 8 weeks
