What a horrendous story a lot of people have problems when moving over here but thankfully have not heard a horror story like that before. One thing does puzzle me though, why did you need an inventory when the villa was unfurnished?
I also thought that the landlord could not have the electricity cut off even if you had not paid the rent, this 'lady' must have some influence!

Hi, we needed an inventory to record the faults/damage to the villa before we moved in, also did include white goods some which did not work, yes she got the electric cut without any warning, kib tek gave us 24 hrs to register in our name, 1600tl, but i nthink this is dangerous as we are then liable for all bills, and deposit with kib tek cannot be transfered, i will keep updating when i have power, many thanks Tony

I feel so sorry that you have been through hell and back, I see the property is for rent on Fraser Meridies website now. I hope many people read your website and then this will bring estate agents who do not do there job properly into the lime light. Thank you for sharing your very sad experience good luck in whatever you next decide to do.

We had a similar horrendous experience some years ago albeit for a short holiday rental when we arrived at one of Lord kilkoos ( John Taylor) properties in Ozenkoy Vine cottage. The place was in a dreadful state which my wife had to put right by cleaning it up over a three day period. She was in tears when we arrived at the property. When we confronted this then north of Ireland MP and sent him photos he refuted all our complaints but refused to return the photos. I still return to TRNC annually but wonder at the skulduggery which goes on there and the high ranking individuals who allow it to continue. I suppose the only way to prevent these problems is not to go there but we love the place despite the corruption which exists there. As in the UK this does not apply to the ordinary people but the greedy devious scum who are out to make a quick buck!!!

So sorry for your problems. You have all had a really tough time. Will be checking on your blog to see how you get on. Try and hold onto your dream though, as Northern Cyprus can be a great place to live.I was shocked to read about your about your electricityand water being cut. A few years ago my parents were renting out their bungalow when the tenant stopped paying the rent and begun to build up a very high elctricity and water bill. They complained to the police and then tried to get the electricity and water cut off. They were told that nothing could be done. This went on for quite a while until, thankfully, the tennant was sent to prison on an unrelated charge. My parents were able to enter the building and sort things out. Obviously, the elctricity and water board have now changed their rules! Good luck.

Sandman,
Can I ask who you rented the cottage from? Was it directly from Lord Kilclooney or through an agent.

Shame on all you Estate Agents who have this villa for rental or sale on your books! I hope, that having read this nighmare of a story, you withdraw this rental and/or sale.
Tony, what a shame your new life in TRNC has started out so badly for you and your family. Stick with it, it will get better.
