We've been hearing this since the CTA went bust years ago

Laptawrinkles early post says it all ,i would not touch them with a barge pole!! Anyway will they be flying from Uk ,I think not if Russian pilots .

I would not get to excited about Russian tourists the way the Country is going ,it will only be males escaping Putins conscription .

More worrying, was the announcement (https://www.kibrisgazetesi.com/kibris/e ... 31439.html) of a 'New National Airline' Mavi Girne Airlines (Blue Kyrenia Airline) - this seems to be connected to a Russian Charter company called Azur Air.

If indeed it is, a quick look on the internet (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azur_Air) would cause for concern, given its history and action for safety violations by the Russian Air Ministry, which means it must have been bad!

People would have to be desperate to fly on any airline connected to Russia in this current climate.

It has been shelved!

The airline company which tendered for the TRNC flagship airline has withdrawn, Minister of Public Works and Transport Erhan Arıklı said, Kibris Postasi reports.

According to Arıklı there were problems with the tender process and the company Mavi Gök Aviation withdrew because the process had become prolonged and for other seasonal-related issues.


Arıklı said that some sectors do not want to do business in the country, and that even the right policies are attributed badly.

“While many aircraft companies were making losses in this period, we should have known the value of the company at hand“, he said.

Arıklı also blamed the delays on too many dissenting voices and a lack of coherence affecting any agreement with the company.

He said that as long as this logic is followed, everyone will continue to ‘buy expensive tickets‘ adding, “Every right thing done in the country is reacted [against]“.

No business, be it large or small, will want to do business with a muddle headed uncoordinated set up that exists. We might continue to buy expensive tickets, because we are given no alternatives. Its not through choice that we select "expensive"
