Good morning.
Is it possible to purchase four inch pipe flap valves here, north or south? If so, where from please?
TIA

Do you mean a non-return valve? Gepaz in Alsancak have a great stock and range of piping equipment, so well worth checking with them.

Yes, to fit onto four inch waste pipes.
Thanks. I will check out Gepaz.

Excuse my ignorance, but if you fix non return valves to waste pipes, does that help eliminate pongs.?

benjaminbutton, yes, there should be no upstream flow of either waste or vapour if an NRV is fitted.

Putting a NRV in a 110mm (4") waste pipe if its carrying solids which most do will cause a blockage. Pipes correctly installed with proper vent pipes should not cause an issue. I would think twice before doing this and remember that this sort of valve if available would need access to maintenance.

Thornaby.
You put it on the vertical riser well above the flood level of highest discharge coupling (loo etc). Its specifically for venting.

Think you mean an air admittance valve, admit air into vent pipe when required.. In UK known as Durgo valves. Don’t live TRNC now but a good start if West would be Ersem Trading or Yapi opposite where cinema is/was in Karaoglanoglu.

A air admission valve is used for stacks terminating inside a building , a open vent pipe is all that is needed for a external vent pipe.

Yes I know that but as I understand they’re trying to eliminate external smells.

Becker hi, that's the problem, we don't really know what the problem is and what are their ideas to resolve it. If its a below ground pipe a n.r.v. is a definite no. If its a ventilation pipe on a external pipe the vent pipe alone if installed correctly is the answer. If its an internal vent pipe a air admivale would be the answer. I would be surprised if houses here had a internal ( in the house) vent pipe but they may exist. One other point is a1syman is looking for a "4" nrv, if it is an external vent pipe the 4" pipe would normally be reduced down to a 2" pipe and extended to a high level. Confusing!

Yes very.
