Girne state hospital?????
Is that for cleaning out or replacement. How do you go about organising that. How much is the cleaning out if possible. Thought we had to pay privately anyway. I am British if that makes a difference .

The state hospital will treat anyone, you still have to pay but will be a fraction of the cost. Not quite sure of the procedure these days but if you get a recommendation, say Dr Anıl mentioned above, find out which days he attends Girne polyclinic http://gah.gov.ct.tr/tr/poliklinik# - looks like Mondays and Thursdays. Not sure if you can make an appointment now but someone can advise, used to be you got to the hospital early, paid a small fee, waited to see the doctor. He /she can arrange any procedures necessary.

I recently stayed in Lefkoşa state hospital for 3 nights following an accident, ambulances and emergency treatment were covered by state insurance, I only had to pay for the 3 nights which included meals prepared by Calaforian group. It was 942TL in total... My husband had to buy the medications and some bandages from a pharmacy on top of that.

My friend just had knee replacement at the kolan private hospital Nicosia only a few months ago . It cost £4500. So my question is .. if it cost £5000 at the state hospital then that is not significantly cheaper or better. Would have thought state would be cheaper

If you are referring to Deniz1's post, I'm not sure she meant the state hospital but I'm sure she'll clarify if I'm wrong.

I'd be very surprised if the state hospital is more expensive or even close to the cost of private. For example, I had my thyroid removed 10 years ago at Lefkoşa state, it cost around £1500, I was quoted £5000 by a private hospital in Lefkoşa. I was able to choose my surgeon, recommended by a doctor and pick the date of surgery - he was able to do it the same week if I wanted. Hospitals here are not like UK though, generally nurses only nurse and families tend to do everything else.
