Car Rental South

Would anyone know if it is possible to rent a car in the South and bring it to the North? If not, are there alternatives? I have a relative that is planning to fly into Paphos and will travel to Karşıyaka to visit me. Thanks

Hi, yes it is possible, but they need to check with each hire company in the south as not all allow their cars to be taken north.

Also I'd suggest they need to check the following: what recovery arrangements in place in case of accident or breakdown when in the north; what on their south insurance covers them if they have an accident in the north - by this I mean the north insurance from the crossing will be 3rd party only (most agents insist on cash in € BTW), so if they have fully comprehensive insurance in the south, will that cover them for anything not covered by 3rd party north insurance. Otherwise could end up with a large bill for example if deemed at fault in any accident in the north with 3rd party insurance, if they have to make the difference to the south hire company.

Yes, for years - 13? - I have used Petsas Rental. I also have coverage for excess by a UK insurer - carhireexcess.com. But any hirer has to their make own arrangements for recovery, which thankfully has never happened to me hiring 2 months a year. The better the hire company, the better the quality/maintenance of the car I find.
