Tom certificate for south .

I don't have Facebook so in a third party however apparently there is a posting that the Greeks are now reverting back to the one year certification rather than the ridiculous 1 month .
Is there anyone who can hopefully verify this. It would indeed be good news as we have friends in the south which means we can then drive over and stay overnight

Get the correct info straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak.
Email your TOM questions to roadtransport@rtd.mcw.gov.cy

Susiesusie, What is the ridiculous 1 month certification you are posting about? The only "ridiculous" certification I am aware of is the TOM valid only for 1 day!

You make my point very well.

Horse's mouth, as above.

So, I think the original question still stands. TOM…. valid for 1 month or 1 year?

I am sure someone will post soon.

It no longer affects me as l have dual nationality.

For UK passport holders who this does affect l have provided the email address to submit your questions relating to the TOM 99 document. Here it is again roadtransport@rtd.mcw.gov.cy

I have submitted emails to this address previously and received quick, polite and informative replies.

Just can't get a definitive answer on this. Emailed the link no reply.
Hear you also need eye test if over 70? Where do you get that?

A friend of mine crossed last week and he was given 12 months rather than the 1 day he was given previously - and he was advised it has now been changed to 12 months for British passport holders …..for now I guess!

All who wish to drive in the RoC 70 years of age and over are obliged to take an eye sight test in the RoC and present proof of such. Exactly the same for RoC citizens.

Obviously l do not know how you worded your email inquiry in relation to the TOM 99 document and your coming from the north. I have received a reply on each occasion l have needed to contact them. I play the game and state l am coming from the occupied area. I do not state l come from the TRNC.

Replies to me come from this person XLiasides@rtd.mcw.gov.cy

You should try emailing, or forwarding your previous email, to them direct.

I have emailed the ROC authorities and am awaiting a reply.

Hopefully the issuing of the TOM has changed back from 1 day to 1 year.

I would suspect that the BRS/TFR or British High Commission will follow this up and give details in due course.

Copy email received today 25th January. From RoC Road transport dept.
Can only assume those getting 1 year are not UK nationals

Announcement

RE: Temporary circulation license and temporary driving license

Temporary licenses are only issued for:
Turkish Cypriots and citizens of EU: (duration one year)

U.K. nationals provided they are allowed by the immigration office to pass in the territory controlled by the Republic of Cyprus: (duration one day)

Another reason to spend our pensions up here rather than down south. Bit of a nuisance for those who only go to empty their PO boxes though.

Who needs more than a one day TOM 99 to do that?

So like a1sysman it has been worth the wait (and cost!) for us to gain dual nationality and get an EU passport back again :+1:)

(Not that that’s the only reason for acquiring one (:Q) )

So a tourist aged 70+ wanting to hire a car in the south for a week's holiday in Paphos has to have an eyesight test first?

Worth inquiring.
