Mobile wi-fi devices
Does anybody know if it is possible to buy a mobile wi-fi device in North Cyprus? If so, who is the best provider?

Re: Mobile wi-fi devices
Do you mean a device like a MiFi which establishes a data connection with a mobile phone network, and uses it to create a local WiFi zone?
I bought one of those years ago, and discarded it the instant that I realised that any smart phone could do the same thing...

I am talking about a device that connects to the internet, then emits a wifi signal so that you can connect various devices to it. Sometimes they are called dongles. I have one in Ireland for a holiday home I have there, I can opt for pay as you go, or go on a yearly contract. I can take this device with me in the car if I so wish, It is truly mobile.

It sounds as though you are indeed talking about a MIFI there's a Wikipedia description here - they have their own SIM card and their own connection/subscription to a mobile phone provider.
As I mentioned, you can do the same thing with a Smart Phone - at least on all android phones & iPhones there is a facility to allow the phone to generate a WiFi signal ('hotspot') so that you can connect other devices like pads, laptops etc...
The advantage of using a phone to do the job is that you only need to pay for one phone connection - this might be a disadvantage if you are travelling unless you have a Dual SIM phone.

Thanks for your input. The only reason I want a. MIFI is because when I was in Cyprus last year I used my iPhone as a hotspot and my data allowance was used up really quickly. I’ll check into a MIFI when I get out there later this week.

Eccles: I am fairly sure that Laconic outlets sell these devices (although it would be cheaper to buy one in UK).. I still have one as it comes in handy when we have lots of visitors, otherwise they (visitors) slow up my domestic Wi-Fi service. Get a data only SIM card from Turkcell etc, works really well & you can avoid potentially high connection charges if using a UK SIM on hotspot. Most data only SIM card allow up to 10 connected users in my experience.

Turkcell shops sell them but there not cheap, buy one off e bay before you come out then buy a sim card from here and load it with data.

Yes you can. We have one & connect phones & iPads when we are here. Not sure how much they cost as we bought ours ages ago. We just top the SIM card when we arrive. You can buy various amounts of data. Ours is Turkcell.
