Anyone getting big drops in download speeds of late? This used to be really good but for last two weeks, after around 17:00 it’s down to 8mbs max.

a1sysman, thanks. It is strange indeed. I am up towards the mountains in Catalkoy, past the new kids playground (Lesland) that used to be a nice rural piknik area. I am line of sight with the Turkcell tower, with a normal 20mb download speed right up till around 18:00 everyday. Then it drops down to between 2mb and 12mb for the rest of the evening up to - as far as I know - 23:00 when I am off to bed anyway. Checked everything at my end and even rebooted all when speed drops but to no effect. Think it must be a bandwidth sharing issue but can’t see why? Only started a few weeks ago but now constant - strange!

I will test again between 6pm and midnight tonight.
We are west so maybe your issue is local to your area.
Lifecell Digital do not impose download restrictions beyond the Mbps package you are paying for.

From 18:30 nothing above 14mb and mostly in and around 9 to 11mb. Thanks for the information guys, guess I will have to go through the whole "Do you want to supersize that sir" routine with the help desk before I can get to the end of the checklist and prove that it is not my end at fault - lol.
Can't complain really, it is my history and what I told my guys to always ask customers, that has now come back to bite me!!!

Thanks A1, Funny old thing, I did not get any sort of reply or acknowledgment from them BUT so far, no drop in download speed! We will see what happens next. I have been looking at Extend and their “dedicated” 20mb package, maybe that will be the answer in the end!

If you are thinking of changing Waddo, also have a look at
https://www.veezynet.com/
Been with them since November and been really pleased with them. I pay for 20 mb package, but my speeds are normally way above that, I am very close to mast.
Test just now
DOWNLOAD Mbps
39.92
UPLOAD Mbps
26.29
Ping ms 14 90 85

alphamike, thanks for that! It looks good and what I am after. Do you know how long they have been in operation and which "masts" they use? I will contact them to see if I have coverage in my area. Not to happy with the "damage" part of the agreement as lightning strikes are quite common now - lol.

Sorry no idea how long they have actually been in operation. All I can tell you that my neighbour has been using them for at least 2 years, possibly 3. Wish I had jumped ship sooner. I believe they use Nethouse masts. I think the damage part of the agreement is standard, but of course could be wrong.

alphamike, again my thanks for information. After much phone/email traffic I finally found out that my current Lifecell package expires on the 31st of August this year. At that point I think I will shift across to veezynet and see what happens with them. I will contact them first to make sure it should work to my location of course but plenty of time to sort it through.
Meanwhile - speeds remain around 20Mb all through the evening so something must have happened even through I did not receive any reply to emails! Hey ho and I thought my days of sorting network problems were finally over - lol.

You are very welcome Waddo. At least you have a bit of time left and don't have to go rushing into anything.
I have had some downtime with them, but a quick WhatsApp message and they get back to you quite quickly. So far, it's always been an outage problem, but you get that with anyone you go with. I do hope that you get them in your location as I have been very impressed with speed, and customer service. I was getting nowhere near 20 Mb with my last supplier.

Will change when current Lifecell expires - this morning was a non internet morning and had to use cell phone as hotspot for first two hours - crazy but there you go. Found out yesterday that it all works really well in Turkey but not so well in TRNC, funny that as everything else always works so well here - lol. Will let you know when it happens and what it's like, many thanks for all.
And here we are as 12:59 with the internet at it's normal 14.48mb download speed yet again! I have made the right decision to ditch this service at the end of it's contract, or before if I get really annoyed!!!

Oh dear. Must admit many years ago I ditched one company with quite a few months still to go. Was so fed up phoning them and having huge monthly phone bills. Was worth it for the state of my nerves and frustration.
Anyway, very best of luck and let me know how you get on in due course.

Yesterday I received a message from Lifecell to tell me they had fixed my problem by remotely accessing my device. Fair do's, it was all working well but strangely when I performed a speed check none of the normal servers were there, most of the servers were in the South but the speed was good. This morning all was working well until it all stopped yet again! So no internet until just now and when trying to perform a speed check and the normal servers were back and available with speeds back up to normal. Still a lot of servers from the South to choose from but I wonder why??
Guess the change up to 4.5G must be going on and the two sides may even be working together - although the politicians would never admit that! Time will tell but Lifecell, for me, has still run it's course.

I am on Turkcell dedicated service for 20meg, it has gone from 499tl to 1354tl per month an increase of 250%.
I have spotted extend "Business Package" which is 25 down and 10 up at a cost of 9999tl per year.
Is anybody on the forum on this ? and what is it like ?

Hair Cut, all internet companies fairly recently had to put their prices up by quite a bit. My memory fails me as to why, but it was a compulsory thing.
No idea about Lifecell, tried a while back, but no mast within range, which turns out to have been a blessing by the sound of things.
Waddo I don't think the 4.5G has anything to do with home internet, just mobile. Of course, one could be wrong.

Alphamike, Quite right regarding 4.5G and mobile I am told! But as 4.5 will be an upgrade (possibly) to 3 then I would assume there will be equipment an/or software changes being applied before the system goes live! Doubtful that new towers would be required for the upgrade so work would probably happen to existing towers/equipment? That being the case, I would not be surprised if any interaction between the two could cause temporary malfunctions? It can not be an easy task and I wish them well - just live in the hopes that my beloved F1 is not effected by it all - lol.

Thanks Waddo, that makes sense...sort of. My brain is not functioning in this heat. Fingers crossed you get your F1, am exactly the same with rugby, get really miffed if I can't watch it.
