Flights

Having been travelling back and forth for the last 15 years. We are finding flights a lot harder ( and much more expensive) than ever.

Ideally we like to fly from Cardiff/Bristol but these stop during winter so does Birmingham. Turkish airlines to Ercan are crazy prices from Birmingham ( cheaper to fly to Australia ).
So that leaves London. Whizz air were £700 for 3 of us but want another £200 to book our seats!! We have a 3yo autistic little girl so 5 hours can be a long time on a flight.

Cardiff had 2 Larnaca flights cut and Bristol had one cut. This has made things much more difficult but it’s no wonder TRNC is struggling with visitors.

For our October flights we’ve even had to fly into Paphos to try and get things a bit cheaper.

Pegasus wanted £400 per person for winter.

Try BHX/AYT/ECN

If you fly SunExpress they include baggage in the price. We only go that way now.

Jet2 was flying all of last winter. If you have to have an overnight there is a hotel near the airport for about £30.

I’m guessing that route is summer only?

No, we use it all year round.

I'm searching right now too. As my 90/180 days is all spent. I cant go via ROC.
BHX/AYT/ECN one way is £300 even with flexible dates.
Larnaca £130 ..expensive but banned until september 11th when i can get a visa.
I cant see prices changing much going forwards to go to Ercan.
TRNC for most is increasingly untenable based on costs , access and visa issues.

In May 1988 flights Heathrow to ercan were £240 but spending money £80, eating out all the time. Car hire for the fortnight £50 including collection and drop off.Villa was £200 shared between 4.. Now the flight seems to nearer the low end of your spending.

Thank you
I need to fly asap to renew residency.
Larnaca route similar money and only 5 hrs.
whichever access to TRNC from UK is no longer reasonably priced

From Dublin its still only £40
what does that tell you?

Not that it perhaps helps much but checking flights for 20th July (an arbitrary date), one way using the cheapest economy fare on Turkish Airlines (EcoFly):
BHX (Birmingham) - ECN = £974
DUB (Dublin) - ECN = £404
On a return flight last year, late booking (for a funeral in the U.K.), my wife saved £1000 by flying into Dublin (which is our home airport). Then a Ryanair flight circa £70 return to Luton.
There was a 5 hour wait in Dublin between flights - when asked what did she do for that time she said she thought about the £1000 she’d saved!
Three flights daily DUB-IST when I just checked (there seems to have been a third flight added - perhaps for the summer?)

Thanks for the tip, we usually fly to London but our daughter lives in West Country so flying to Dublin then Exeter (Air Fungus) would work well. Never been to Dublin but wanted to visit so this gives us a good excuse.

For our dates in December flying back in January it’s coming out at £380 per person just the Birmingham to Antalya route. Thats without the Ercan leg of the flight. So virtually £1200 for the 3 of us which is insane in my mind for that time of year.

The past year or so has seen Cyprus flights really get a lot more expensive into all 3 routes.

What are your actual dates? If you are including the Xmas period I can see it being that amount.

Yes it includes the Xmas dates but generally leaving around 12th December is usually very cheap. Same as coming back after the new year, but prices are silly whichever route we look at.

12/12 ECN/AYT £40 12/12 AYT/BHX £84

9/1 BHX/AYT £69 9/1 AYT/ECN £40

Total PP = £228

Party Price = £228 x 3 = £684
