Fitting AC units- advice.

Hi all,

A supplier of a particular AC came out to do a site inspection. Having had the quote, it excluded 'electrical installation' which confused me somewhat.

It appears before they fit the AC units (Split type), I have to have the electrical connection ready - i.e. wiring done and a switch box for them to wire into. All rooms obviously have sockets to take a live feed from. Years ago when I had an old style Arcelik AC fitted, they did all they work as part of the installation, including the switch box as no power for AC there before.

Obviously an additional charge on me, for what I feel should be part of the installation package? They don't have an electrician so I have to get my own and tell them where to put the connection! What if they get placement wrong or anything else that affects the warranty!

Does this seem right? Advice appreciated.

That's pretty normal practice, you should have connecting point ready. Best get a qualified electrician to sort it.

We had all of ours replaced so connecting points were already there apart from one which we had fitted downstairs
they run the cable down the wall drilled a hole through the wall and connected into a double socket no extra charge
